FROM TREADMILL to ULTRA FINISHER

- How do you become an ultra runner? By completing a distance longer than a marathon. Most people work their way up the distance ladder, starting with shorter races like a half marathon or marathon. But I took an unconventional path-I went straight from running on a treadmill to completing an ultra race, without ever training on the roads or participating in shorter races. Curious to know how my first-ever race unfolded? Discover how I prepared, the challenges I faced, and what truly enabled me to cross that finish line.
Inspiring 😅😅😅 thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge
What a journey so far mate, it’s been brilliant to follow. Long may it continue.

@@stevedevlin7511 thanks a lot buddy! 🙌
You are an inspiration, at least for me personally. Keep it up!
@@ozzyprv thanks so much! That is what drives me, inspiring others to dare greatly and muster the courage to step out of their comfort zone 🙏
Enjoying the journey!
@@jarrydelse7080 thanks!
Quality mate! I have a VERY similiar story, in August 2020 I summited the Matterhorn on a Friday, stayed in the hornlihutte as a treat on Friday night, then on Saturday I experienced the Ultraks weekend in Zermatt and let me tell you, I was extremely jealous! (I was already a runner) but I hadn't ran any ultras or even trail races at this point, just the occasional flat trail back in England! So of course I entered the Mountain Ultraks in 2021 (you may remember me chatting to you before about it), i have done it again in 2023 and this year also, I have unfinished business there!
@@paulhoulden fantastic!! Yeah zermatt is incredible and the ultraks has a special place in my heart!
@rafaelhidalgo me too! I went in 2023 whilst going through the period of meeting a new girlfriend, I had bad sleep in 2023 so not the best race, she came with me this year and helped me, it was special! What will be even more special is we are both entered into the Mountain race next year! She only started running in May this!
Keep up the good work mate 💪🏻
@ fantastic! That will be great! And thanks for your support
@@rafaelhidalgoI love your stuff mate, been here since the somewhat start!
@@paulhoulden thanks Paul! So cool yo hear that you were one of the earliest supporters! 🙏
Always appreciate your valuable contributions. I really like your way of story telling.
Did my first Ultra (SwissAlps100 50k) this year which was an epic experience for me. Next year I'll follow your footsteps and do the 100k of it. Let's see how deep that pain cave is 😂
Keep it up, warm regards from Switzerland.
@@gitanoch8226 thanks a lot for your support 🙏 kudos to you for the 50k 🙌 awesome accomplishment! You are on your own personal pilgrimage 👍 enjoy the journey to the 100k! Its a great race and a great place to discover more of yourself 🌟

How much or what exactly... did you do on the treadmill.
Sprints, long walks, slow runs?
@@hinrichfuchs good point I should maybe have elaborated on this despite it being very simple. It was like an hour a day 4xweek, constant speed at around 6:00/km
The pure determination, consistency and effort you shown during these years. Your kids will be forever proud. p.s.: thank you for the IT band tips already feeling improvements 💪🏼🏔️
@@roberturbanphotography thanks a lot Robert 🙏 I hope the inspiration will extend beyond my kids and help others find their purpose and that burning fire in them to carry them through the journey of life with meaning.
