I can't understand record companies, I've bought Cds after viewing videos and hearing tracks on TH-cam.
@@somerandomguy_musicWhat happened to Young MC? He is also a two hit wonder since his songs from the 90’s didn’t reach Top 40 in America. Unless you ran out of space which is understandable, I guess.
Never appreciated being able to live through the 80's as much as I do now.
I did, maybe that's why I miss them so badly.
it's true isn't it mate, As Tom Keifer and Cinderella said YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU GOT, TI'LL IT'S GONE
And neither did we at the time, We were just living that life and things were good but from our point of reference...
that's how life was supposed to be
We were clueless as to what would come 40 years later
I’m with you, it really was a great time.
Glad I was a teen in the 80s. It was a great time. Sometimes I miss those days.
@@davemiller6055 hell I miss those days every day !
I always loved Johnny Logan, he's basically the Patron Saint of Eurovision when it comes to my family. He performed twice, and wrote another winning entry!
The 80's was the best era in music and had so many various artists that were so great..
It was the best decade ever. If you think of the music, the movies, the fashion, the Lifestyle. It seemed perfect to me! ❤
Easily the worst fashion sense of all time. Nothing worked. Jeri Curls is the worst hairstyle ever. Madonna looked like a 50 year old hooker from Seattle. Boy George looked like Madonna, Prince looked like Boy George with an eating disorder. Michael Jackson looked normal except for his Jeri Curls, how ironic?
Eighth Wonder lead singer was also in the movie "Lethal Weapon 2," as Martin Riggs's love interest.
Patsy Kensit, also in kill cruise with Liz Hurley.
Patsy Kensit is very well known in the UK, she was also married to Liam Gallagher of Oasis and engaged to Jeremy Healey of Haysi Fantaysee (who should have been in this list!!)
@@TheClairei Don’t forget the Birds Eye frozen peas advert! ‘Pop’.
Truthfully I saw her an clicked on 🤷♂️.
She was hot AF.
These songs bring back so many great memories for me. The 80’s had such awesome music, and they were some of the best years of my life!!! ❤
Oh wow the singer of Eighth Wonder is stunning 🤩
WAS stunning :-)
Patsy Kensit? She costarred in Lethal Weapon 2 and a few other films.
She left the music industry and went into acting....on both the big screen, and small screen. Was even in a British soap for a while (Emmerdale?).
She was also married to Jim Kerr (lead singer of Simple Minds), and later Liam Gallagher (former lead singer of Oasis).
@@robtyman4281 She was even acting before her music carrer began. As a child she had a minor role in "The Great Gatsby" (1974), a bigger role in the American/Russian co-production "The Blue Bird" (1976) and in the French/Japanese live action movie of the manga "The Rose of Versailles" (1979) she played the younger version of Lady Oscar Francois de Jarjayes.
Neil Tennant from the Pet Shop Boys is also a Friend of her.
They wrote her Song I´m not scared. 🙂
Im so proud to be born on 1963. Our live was a big present !
The 80s was and is the pinnacle of music. The 80s is when music changed forever. New sounds and new styles of music were being made every day. New Wave, Dance, Freestyle, Pop, Rock, Punk, Jazz, Country, Hip Hop, R&B. House Music, if you youngsters don't know what Freestyle Music and House Music is look it up and prepare to move your feet. No one in the 50s was talking about 40s music and no one in 60s was talking about 50s music. The 60s and 70s had some great music but you do not hear them too much. We are in 2024 and we are still listening and dancing and talking and using them in movies tv shows and commercials. 40 years later 4 decades later 80s music is still as relevant as ever. That is how good our music is. Gen X BABY!
Only in your dreams 😂
@@rainyd4293 I love how you quote an 80s Debby Gibson song while desperately trying to prove me wrong. Everything I said was true no way around it "Sorry". I guess a generation of Auto Tuning and Sampling 80s music to make todays music just would not understand.
It's actually spelled "pinnacle."
@@homeaccount5943 Yeah I do make a mistake sometimes.
@@Mangrove-pd7hx no big deal my friend. I just thought you might want somebody to tell you. God bless you!
The 80s: _Lived ‘em. Loved ‘em. Miss ‘em._
Best 10 years in world history
Me too, I miss 'em every Single day.
Worst Decade of all time. Weird music, weird fashions (Poofy hair and Jeri Curls, a hairstyle where you douse your hair in flammable liquids). Also they sniffed alot of Cokaine
Never heard of some of these songs, but now I've got some to make a playlist with. Some of these songs were pure gold, like both from Men Without Hats and the two from Mr. Mister.
So many of them I've never knew they even had a second hit. 😅
A lot of these 2nd hits weren’t really hits…
Cutting Crew one exception (loved the 2nd song!)
Nací en el '89 pero amo los clásicos 💘❤️🔥. GRACIAS. Saludos desde Argentina
Умеешь поднять настроение, спасибо🎉.
Спасибо автору канала за отличные подборки с описанием. Благодаря ему создал для себя огромный плейлист первоклассной музыки 70-х и 80-х.
"St Elmo's Fire" is the most American song ever, though it was sung by a Brit, about a Canadian! 😂
Man in motion
For the Movie also starring the stars of the 80s the Brat Pack
And produced by a Canadian
I want to thank Sidney Youngblood, because thanks to his wonderful song, "if only I Could" from 1989, I discovered the new disco music, approaching all those dance genres (house and then techno) that would come in the 90s. gave the will to live, in a period in which my dear father had passed away.
The head of Mr. Mister, Richard Page was very successful as songwriter, writing for Kenny Loggins, Madonna, Céline Dion, Chaka Khan, Donna Summer, Dionne Warwick, The Pointer Sisters, Meat Loaf, Patti LaBelle, Hall & Oates, Al Jarreau, Leona Lewis...
Glen Medeiros - From "Nothing's gonna change my love for you" to "She ain't worth it" within three years lol.
🍻"s SRG Mr Mister welcome to the Real World 🌎 is 1 of my favourite albums ❤️ much ❤ love from Derbyshire England yet again 😂🎧
80s music is the best.
FACTS!!
I agree 100%
I actually worked with two of the band members of Champaign. Michael and Rena Day left the band and became Christians and became music pastors for a church I was on staff at. Rena Day had the best voice I've ever heard and her range was phenomenal. Michael, unfortunately died of a brain tumor cutting short a very talented life. Where did all this happen? Champaign, Illinois. Now you know where they got the name of the band.
The best years of my life 😢
Returned to childhood
Thank you very much
Linda música parabéns pra você que Deus te abençoe sempre você 👍
Damn I miss the 80's so much!
In France, Glenn Medeiros had a 3rd Hit : "Un roman d'amitié" (sang both in French & English) in 1988 duet with the young french Singer Elsa - the song was nr 1 =)
Yes, you're right, it's the only country where he had a third hit.
Didn't he also chart well there with Lonely Won't Leave Me Alone?
@@Asukenickthat's brilliant backup song after Nothing's Gonna Change My Love For You
@@paultreadaway102 He is very talented.
@@Asukenick yeap scary he was 17 in 87 woe i was having the time of my life talented swag above his years the songs and all the Emotions sending us now
I love "Hair Metal"! It's so 80's!
When I saw the tab, my first thought was Cutting Crew...and those 2 songs. Loved them both.
and One for the Mockingbird
I was always shocked Glenn Medeiros never got bigger - he had a great voice.
Glass Tiger could have qualified for this video (in the US; they had a really good chart run in their native Canada). "Don't Forget Me" and "Someday" were top ten hits, but their subsequent top 40 singles stalled at #31 and #34.
I was surprised to find out "Send Me an Angel" was released in 1983. It sounds *way* ahead of its time, and if you'd told me it came out in 1995 I would have believed it.
Jan hammer songs still gives me chills
And he had another hit in 90s - The Seeds of Live with clip full of computer graphics of that time.
It's funny how sometimes the second song is catchier (e.g. Kyrie, Sit and Wait) and even more famous (e.g St. Elmo's Fire).
It's like a sequel to a Movie its equal or could be slightly better that with Try Again by Champaign and Find My Love by Fairground Attraction
That was so entertaining and very interesting!:)🥰I absolutely love the 80s💛 thanks some random guy ✌️💖🤩
I Miss The Songs From The 80's
Ratt (Hard Rock/Glam Metal band from USA) was also a two-hits wonder during the 80's with "Round And Round (it peaked at #12 in USA) and "Lay It Down" (it peaked at #40 in the USA).
They had more songs than that like Wanted Man, Way Cool Jr., You're in Love, Ect.
Ratt is not a one hit wonder not a two hit wonder. They had four consecutive platinum selling albums.
@@larryparadis9728 You’re right. I know they’ve had several platinum/multiplatinum albums and many classics in their catalogue, but mainstream masses don’t resonate in terms of album sales, they only see through the prism of songs that have reached the Top 40, not beyond.
Didn’t ‘Dance’ get up in the charts?
@@Gauge.-WaringtonDance got all the way to #59. Way Cool Junior only made it to #75. They only had two top 40 songs. If you only watched Headbanger's Ball, you may have thought that they had more. They had several popular singles that just weren't popular with the mainstream.
"Died in your arms" is such a good song that if it were the only song on their entire disco id still think theyre a great band 😂😂
It was okay song. 80's music featured alot of synthesizer and electronic music b4 that style was perfected in the 90's by bands like Technotronick.
when I was young 😔
TY so much for the content! my day is a bit brighter any time there is a new post on your channel
Omg, so many great songs😮
I legit think Sidney Youngblood deserves a comeback hit. Like a summer hit nobody expects but it blows up in the clubs and on the beaches anyway. Maybe he should team up with Tone-Lōc.
The motels, only the lonely and suddenly last summer. 36 members at 2 top 10 hits.
Excellent catch on them...Love those songs. Thank you!
Ok, the best of these are, I just died, perfect, find my love, st elmos fire, stop the cavalry, separate lives, broken wings, kyrie, I can't wait, if only I could, wild thang,
Thanks for nice songs 👌 🍃 🍀 1980
Hard to believe John Parr is considered a two hit guy. Felt like he was all over the place.
Eighth Wonder was one of the greatest!
Cutting Crew had a third US Top 40 hit, One for the Mockingbird. It hit #38, the first two hit #1 and #9
patsy kensit of 8th power 😍 1st time i really took notice of her was when she co-starred w/ mel Gibson in one of those lethal weapon movies.
Lethal Weapon 2 She played Riggs Dutch South African girlfriend
Eddie Murphy, what a hoot!
That was the chick from the Lethal Weapon II. (8th Wonder)
Always enjoy your content, love jamming to your song selection.
90% of these artists were 1 hit wonders their so-called 2nd hits are only a hit to you .
Mr Mister, White Lion, Tone Loc and Will to Power the most timeless songs in these lists I guess.
White Lion's "Little Fighter" hit #12 on the Mainstream rock chart, so they're really a 3-hit wonder.
Eight Wonder were not a wonder of only 2 hits! In Italy they were very famous before 1988, because they reached top 10 already in 1986 with Stay with me and then in 1987 with Will you remember! They had also 2 more singles in the charts: When the phone stops ringing and Baby baby. Stay with me, their first single, reached even No.1 in the Hit Parade of Rai, the state television. You know in Italy we did not have an official ranking until 1996 but we had three rankings of three specialised magazines, but the one linked to the television state was then the most universally accredited. The date you find today on Wikipedia are from the magazine Musica & Dischi, where Stay with me still reached number 4.
Yes, Italy was the only country where they had more than 2 hits.
@@somerandomguy_musicI have no access to Japanese charts, but already before the European Hit I’m not scared then they were presented in Italian Tv as a band coming off a huge success in that country!
@@somerandomguy_music I am Italian and I find it surprising that "Stay with me" has not been successful in the UK.
Among the Italian singers is missing Ivana Spagna that entered the charts in the UK with the songs "Call me" and "Every Girl And Boy". (In Italy the second most famous song was "Easy lady")
Eighth Wonder
the Chick that was Rig's Girlfriend in Lethal Weapon 2
Thanks For Sharing!
Both of Mr. Mister's two-hit wonders topped the Billboard Hot 100 for two weeks which are "Broken Wings" and "Kyrie".
Will to Power had those 2 hits that were high on the Hot 100, sure, but the group also had 2 other songs that were popular in the clubs in the '80s and I know the group a bit more for those songs.
Fantastic! (wow) ✨
Some of these were big reaches to be classified as hits
Let's be honest here, Mr Mister was an experiment, it worked for 3 albums, the 4th, that should have stayed in the archives when they broke up. If Richard Page hadn't been so busy with every other band in the world I think they would have been huge.
I ❤ Til Tuesday debut record.
Berlin.. No More Words and Take My Breath Away… unless you count Metro for 3
Metro didn't make the top 40.
Mr. Mister had 3 hits: 2 no. 1s - Broken Wings & Kyrie. Is it Love charted too. Top 10 if I’m not mistaken.
Exciting to hear where they have been hits. Because I haven't even heard the half of it!
White Lion also had a 3rd hit called "Little Fighter"!!!😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
"Tell Me" was another hit.
Much better this time...
I feel like a lot these are actually one hit wonders.
I thought of a few others that meets the criteria, at least with the US charts:
Chilliwack- My Girl, I Believe (also had a #41 hit in 1982 with Whatcha Gonna Do)
Pretty Poison- Catch Me I'm Falling, Nighttime
Jermaine Stewart- We Don't Have To Take Our Clothes Off, Say It Again
Vixen- Edge Of A Broken Heart, Cryin'
Icehouse- Crazy, Electric Blue
Brenda K. Starr- I Still Believe, What You See Is What You Get
Berlin also technically falls into this category with their two Top 40 hits Take My Breath Away and No More Words. I don't believe they should be considered a two hit wonder because The Metro (#58 song from 1983) is the most popular with their fans and is well known from the 1980's.
Jermaine Stewart also had the word is out
@@debbieburns3848 The Word Is Out peaked at #41. (I should have added that like I did with Chilliwack.) He also just missed the top 40 with "Jody" reaching #42 in 1986.
Johnny Logan’s two hits was also the first time a Eurovision winner has won twice.
1:58 A very underappreciated voice imo.
White Lion also had Radar Love and Little Fighter.
'Til Tuesday is Aimee Mann.. Long musical career..
What, no Thompson Twins? "Hold Me Now" and "Doctor, Doctor"?
Lay your hands on me was also a hit!
6 Top 40 hits in the Us, 4 in the Top 10……King For A Day was also top 10
Thompson Twins had at least half a dozen hits
@@ColinSempleMore than that.
Los Lobos? Rock and roll Hall of Fame Los Lobos? 12 Grammy awards Los Lobos? WTF are you talking about?
They have 4 grammy awards….not 12
If I never hear that Fairground Attraction song again it'll be too soon.
Stephanie of Monaco is actually a more than decent singer.
I still love Eighth Wonder! ❤❤❤❤
In the UK Slade were one of the most successful singles bands of all time. In the US they only had two songs hit the top 40, Run Runaway and My Oh My.
Well that brought back some memories.
John Parr had a couple more hits. Restless Heart and Through the Night.
I'm actuly surprised about the low success of Johnny Logan. 😮
Not surprised to learn that 'Mister Mister', and 'Cutting Crew' each had a string of hits in the US; as opposed to just two hits each, here in the UK. They were both 'tailormade' for the American market, as Americans loved that kind of 'soft rock' music back then.
Most of the "2nd hit's" I've never heard before.
What about for the UK Belouis Some with Imagination & Some People, Pepsi & Shirlie with Heartache & Goodbye Stranger, Robbie Nevil with Cest La Ve & Dominoes, Philip Bailey with Easy Lover & Walking On The Chinese Wall, Ray Parker Jr with Ghostbusters & I Don't Think That Man Should Sleep Alone, Mai Tai with History & Body & Soul, Steve Arrington with Feel So Real & Dancing In The Key Of Life, Cool Notes with In Your Car & Spend The Night, Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam with I Wonder If I Take You Home & Let the Beat Hit 'Em, Red Box with Lean On Me & For America, Ryuichi Sakamoto with Bamboo Houses & Forbidden Colours, Icehouse with Hey Little Girl & Crazy, Audrey Hall with Smile & One Last Dance to name but some, I know my 2 hit wonders (& I have every single one on 7 inch LOL)
80s
White Lion had also a USA Top 10 hit with their Remake if the Golden Earring song " Radar Love"
“Little Fighter” was on that same album and was also popular.
I'm embarrassed to admit that I never knew Eddy Murphy had a hit 😂
Not sure where these were hits, but there are more than half I've never heard
More musicians that passed away 🙏🏽
So tragic
I live in Ireland and I never knew Eddie Murphy was a 2 hit wonder.
He wasn't. This is clickbait thumbnail. Party All The Time was written by Rick James at his most coked up. He was high beyond comprehension. That says it all.
I didn't know almost any of the "second hits". :P
Eddie Murphy had a hit song???? WOW
Thank you for the work.
Cutting Crew had another hit; ONE FOR THE MOCKINGBIRD.
White Lion seen them supporting Motley Crue 1989 Birmingham England with Skid Row what a Gig Brother 👍
The only ones i know are
Cutting Crew, Fairground Attraction, Glenn Medeiros, The Greg Kihn Band, John Parr, Los Lobos, Men Without Hats, Mr Mister, Nu Shooz, Quiet Riot, Real Life, The Sydney Youngblood song a cover by Wendy Matthews, Tone Loc, and Will To Power.
Some of them i know only the song title and not the name of the artist.
Apart from Eddie Murphy, the rest of them, have never heard of them.
