That bad roommate story is almost identical to one of my own. I was 18, on my own, and my fiance and I were moving out of our last apartment. Up to this point, we only had one experience with a roommate, and it was fine, so we didn't really vet our new roommate once. He was unemployed, his mother paid for his part of the deposit and first month. Again...young and stupid. First month comes and goes. This roommate (we'll call him Ken) does nothing but sit at home, play video games, and about once every other week go out with a friend of his. 2nd month he gets his mother to pay the rent. 3rd month his mother cuts him off. He goes without paying. By month four, we talked with the management, and explained our situation. They were accommodating, and said if we signed a new lease, they would get rid of the current one. So we did. We moved (in the same complex) from a 2 bedroom to a 1 bedroom at the same cost, and signed a new lease. While Bob was out, about a week before the start of the 5th month, we moved out without a word. As he didn't have a cell phone (this was the 1990s), he couldn't contact us. While he did end up finding us (same apartment complex after all), and spit on my old beat up car's driver mirror, we never heard from him. We lived out the lease happily, before we went month to month and I moved out from her in a similar fashion after she cheated on me.
I've been on record as saying "My loyalty to here (my job) lasts only until a paycheck bounces." And nobody is surprised, my dad was of a similar vein. And the company has gone through upper level changes, going from a leader to an absentee boss. (At least for nights, he is seen maybe once a month.)
Nah I'd argue it's more that RAs can sometimes be "lazy" like Boston Railfan said above, meaning, sticking to the "you don't have to get involved unless it's major" idea. Some RAs can be good and proactive though.

He stated old solicitor was grossly overcharging him. I told new solicitor that old solicitor was notorious for this. New solicitor lodged a complaint on clients behalf with the law society. Oh man... that story about the laptop and stealing because 'stressed' reminds me of a few years ago at Uni. I was studying sculpture at a fairly well known University ...which I won't name... and we were reaching the end of the year. Everyone's going a bit crazy. In fine arts you don't get exams. You instead get end of year reviews, so to speak, where you're setting up and taking down multiple sculptures/installations/art pieces/audio/whatever else the hell we thought of. We need to have perfectly designed art journals documenting the entire year process per class- usually about eight in total for the year. Each class also has multiple sculpures/works... so it isn't that unusual for students to stay overnight to finish work or set it up for the next day's evaluation, to sleep under desks, ect. There's a shared kitchen and uber eats so it's possible. (You just have to hide from the security guard at a certain time. lol He's a cool dude. He's chill about it. As long as no one's drinking alcohol he lets us get away with it.) Anyway at one point we come in and ...someone's eaten all the chocolate and leftovers. We're broke ass uni students. We all have a stash of our own in the fridge of some kind, leftovers, iced coffee was always my thing to store there, chocolate, ice cream (Ben and Jerry gave away a bunch of free ice cream and we managed to get a LOT) Somehow all gone. And people are pissed. Lmao. Hungry and pissed. And stressed. There was totally going to be a witch hunt... Until the next day. Whoever it was had refilled the fridge with a fucking load of goodies. I can't remember exactly. Chocolate, chips, coffee, coke, shit like that, pure stressed student fuel. And a note. They'd freaked out and had a panic attack and had just ...broken. It was kind of funny once our insatiable need for sugar, carbs and salt was satisfied. A few of us actually donated ten bucks or so to a food delivery voucher for them as a kind of joke but also 'hey we feel you and we're here for you' gesture in return. I also went out and bought a bunch of icecream and left it in the freezer for everyone with a note on it saying 'emergancy- spoon some in mouth if stressed'. I'm one of the older students at Uni and try to kind of ...look after the younger ones. This guy was a douche tho. A selfish douche. Didn't think of anyone but himself.

I believe (bare with me I'm not a tech person) the USB killer is a piece of hardware that exploits hardware, by building up a charge from the USB port and sending it back to the computer thus frying things, the software to protect is making it so your USB ports is turned off until you allow something fo connect to them, so it still requires judgement, but for actual shielding you need hardware probably some kind of USB surge protector?
disabling usb with software will not protect you from the usb killer. software protections only prevent data communication, but leaves power from the usb ports unaffected. the usb killer does nothing with data or software, it only needs power to do its thing. unless you can disable all power from usb ports, there is no protection from a usb killer.

He is a manager there, and the company was recently bought so all of the bosses above him were fired, and alot of those below him were to, but since he is right in the middle, he kept his job. With Corona happening, several of his new bosses have been fired as well, so my dad with his 22 years of experience kept his job, and got promoted. Many of his friends were fired, so my dad being the only manager or person of power who was originally there, could easily quit and ruin the business. My dad, being a legend, took his weeks vacation last week, and when he came back the place was a wreck, so he convinced them to rehire his friends. They dad, and his friends took him out drinking.

They'd freaked out and had a panic attack and had just ...broken. It was kind of funny once our insatiable need for sugar, carbs and salt was satisfied. A few of us actually donated ten bucks or so to a food delivery voucher for them as a kind of joke but also 'hey we feel you and we're here for you' gesture in return. I also went out and bought a bunch of icecream and left it in the freezer for everyone with a note on it saying 'emergancy- spoon some in mouth if stressed'. I'm one of the older students at Uni and try to kind of ...look after the younger ones.

It is actually intended for security purposes. Some people use it for testing, others use it as a quick and dirty way to disable their computer to prevent bad actors from getting important info.

There is no such software protection against USB killer. Only for normal usb flash drives.
Try Google perhaps? If it exists, it can definitely help you.
Don't use random USBs, and don't leach your laptop unattended
I believe (bare with me I'm not a tech person) the USB killer is a piece of hardware that exploits hardware, by building up a charge from the USB port and sending it back to the computer thus frying things, the software to protect is making it so your USB ports is turned off until you allow something fo connect to them, so it still requires judgement, but for actual shielding you need hardware probably some kind of USB surge protector?
disabling usb with software will not protect you from the usb killer. software protections only prevent data communication, but leaves power from the usb ports unaffected. the usb killer does nothing with data or software, it only needs power to do its thing. unless you can disable all power from usb ports, there is no protection from a usb killer.

Resident advisor wasn’t willing to do their job. Campus police (especially myself) would have gone “Theft case, with the suspect known & clear proof? GREAT! Easy case & charges! Thank you!”- Yes, we DO investigate petty thefts, even when the case goes nowhere.
My dad has worked at a steel factory near our house for 21, nearly 22, years. He is a manager there, and the company was recently bought so all of the bosses above him were fired, and alot of those below him were to, but since he is right in the middle, he kept his job. With Corona happening, several of his new bosses have been fired as well, so my dad with his 22 years of experience kept his job, and got promoted. Many of his friends were fired, so my dad being the only manager or person of power who was originally there, could easily quit and ruin the business. My dad, being a legend, took his weeks vacation last week, and when he came back the place was a wreck, so he convinced them to rehire his friends. They dad, and his friends took him out drinking.
I've been stressed out of my mind before, but I never broke out into spontaneous Kleptomania.

For the plasma story at first, I was thinking they meant plasma like what the sun is made of not plasma as in blood
