Why has my roller blind become so hard to roll up Thanks

Pamela - That can be a couple of different issues. First, the clutch mechanism (the round part that the chain goes around and operates the shade) can be wearing out and need replacement. Second, if the chain on your shade is plastic, some of the beads may have broken off of the chain. If your chain is metal, it is most likely that the clutch needs replacement.

      Pamela..
I dont know if you got an acceptable answer yet, but the clutch mechanism will get dirty w dust and dirt. Mine was giving me a tough time as well, at least until I pulled on the chain too hard and broke it. It was an easy fix AND an education. For awhile I was squirting some silicon spray into the mechanism, being careful not to spray too much. If that happens then the chain gets kinda nasty and you'll ultimately be cleaning it w 409 or the like. Spray the chain pull area while the blind is in the up position if you can and work the spool a few times up and down. It'll work for a few months or even longer. Mine failed because the chain was metal and had some corrosion built up from the winter. Once I got the roller down from our patio lid and disassembled the the clutch, it was a piece of cake to reassemble and it works like new. Hope this helps....good luck
