Lauren is a bad ass, not many can growl and do melody. If you like the style check out Semblant as well (though Ms Lin only does melody, Sergio does growling).
In her Offspring cover with Jonathan Young, she drops into growl for a single *word* in a line, and I don't know much about vocal techniques but even I was stunned.

They're about as safe and generic as metal gets, which kinda defeats the purpose of doing a metal cover in the first place.
