I loved playing this as a kid. The owner hated when I put a quarter in because he knew I’d be playing for a long time. I would almost always finish the game. I liked the game so much I bought one 15 years ago. Not too long after the monitor crashed. Now I have a cabinet and can’t play it anymore. Wish I could find someone to fix it!
Don't know why it took me 4 years to comment on this one. Nice job! Without points pressing, I'm curious how many paddles you had in all to cash in on 33, even though the focus was on a perfect game. I've had a couple myself back in the day. Even with points pressing and cashing in my extra paddles, it wasn't enough to break 1.5M. Didn't receive hardly any P capsules and breaks. Or, I had a break early, and accidentally went through on a high points stage. You know, it's a matter of putting all the elements in order to have that "ultimate" perfect game! No deaths AND a new PB! :)
doctorx0079 Lasers are extremely useful in certain situations, especially when shooting the floating guys to rack up points at the end of many levels. Milking points from the boss is also key, but in this case, I was just trying to play fast and plow through the game.
He "just" did a run-through and didn't point-scavenge per se. Although this is my favorite and most-skilled (I can still play it) closed-ended game, I never liked the ending of this game. I thought it was ridiculous to compile points by dying. What I would've done is given a massive bonus which would've exceeded the theoretical maximum for compiling points for killing the alien at the end with one life.
It would be nice to get bonus points for remaining lives. That would discourage point-scavenging on the final boss. e.g. compare Darius with Darius Extra. Often the designers of old games simply didn't consider extra scoring features for expert players and they had deadlines to meet.
I did a run-through about six months ago with 902K. It was that because it took me time to play several of the low-point boards with gold bricks and I was really rusty. Your suggestion is more practical, especially if it is used in conjunction with nailing the last level without losing a life.
Sorry: Not a valid score nor game. The middle controller is not original is much smaller in size. Therefore, requires much less turning to move the Vaus which gives one more control. Also, the software is 'bootleg' and not the original software as the 'starter' screen shows. The actual description should state "1986 Taito Corp Japan" and "All Rights Reserved".

Do you use a 130 degrees twist to move the paddle from one end of the screen to the other with the spinner?
I never knew how to to play the "top level"...... But I think I saw what you did..... (Haven't played this game in 30 years.)

Impressive, but such a low score. What's the secret to racking up so many points(1.6mil)?
1. Don't use laser
2. Milk points from final boss
