Midnight Lantern I agree with you, I am a Metal Gear fan too and I love Raiden so much. (Yes MGS2 Raiden as well he is that awesome) Don’t get me wrong I love Snake too but I just find myself relating to Raiden more because his more human then Snake is. From MGS2 to MGRR you see how much character development he has gone through and how he overcomes all the obstacles that challenge him both physically and mentally.
I mean he can't help looking androgynous, and of course people didn't like how playing as him meant MGS2 had a distinct lack of Solid Snake, but he's still a great character, and Metal Gear Rising is definitely the height of his existence in the Metal Gear franchise.

MGR is my 2013 Game of the Year. Unlike The Last of Us, Tomb Raider, GTA V and any other game that's always on GOTY lists, this game is fun, innovative, and has an interesting story. Games like TLoU forgot to have fun in them. Sure they're "immersive" and all that crap, but they don't have the most important part of a game: fun.
Hey, "fun" isn't necessary for the enjoyment of all games, y'know. Survival horror games are a prime example of that. Also, I had fun with the time I had playing TLoU and GTA V.
For me, sometimes the fear is the fun of it. I can enjoy almost any game as long as it's fun. I don't really care much for "immersion", graphics, the shebang. As long as the controls are tight, I got the game.

I wish they would make more Metal Gear Rising games... instead of the wormhole zombie apocalypse bullshit that is Metal Gear Survive. Hell, I'd greatly prefer a PS4 port of MGR over Metal Gear Survive.
But then again this game was pretty much entirely directed by Hideki Kamiya (Devil May Cry and Bayonetta). Hideo Kojima (Metal Gear series) was just brought in for consultation, and watched over the game's creation. Kojima even said that this was more Kamiya's project than his own, and to be honest, Hideki Kamiya's games are usually pretty lackluster when it comes to a story (minus Bayonetta, I did enjoy the compelling albeit confusing plot of that).
the master chief was created with the purpose of eliminating the pact, I am not very familiar with the history of mgs or raiden but as far as I have seen they only share the fact that both were "recruited" as children and trained to be a machine of kill. please correct me if I'm wrong
I love this game, how every action game should be. And the straightforward, succinct story line was refreshing, now with all these games trying for deep shit and life lessons and crap. And the info in the codec calls that gave a glimpse of some backstories and casual every day life activities some of these characters have was a nice touch.

What I like about Japanese fight scenes is that the combatants debate while they fight. It's a battle of ideas as much as it is an actual battle.

But then again this game was pretty much entirely directed by Hideki Kamiya (Devil May Cry and Bayonetta). Hideo Kojima (Metal Gear series) was just brought in for consultation, and watched over the game's creation. Kojima even said that this was more Kamiya's project than his own, and to be honest, Hideki Kamiya's games are usually pretty lackluster when it comes to a story (minus Bayonetta, I did enjoy the compelling albeit confusing plot of that).

I love this game, how every action game should be. And the straightforward, succinct story line was refreshing, now with all these games trying for deep shit and life lessons and crap. And the info in the codec calls that gave a glimpse of some backstories and casual every day life activities some of these characters have was a nice touch.
good job on the cutscenes. it's better than the other channels that use a lot of the gameplay than just the cutscenes.
