This channel is like a truth room. Clips from all walks of the game. Salaries, social media following, franchise, league, shape, size, none of it matters. The topic is driving to the cup. Nothing to do with personalities. So seeing clip examples with the likes of Russel Westbrook in a Lakers uniform, who was the most trolled and disrespected athlete I've personally witnessed in my life, are just normal and you see it for what it is because he is executing a perfect example of the topic of the video. I really appreciate that. Trolling pros and focusing on personalities is egocentric and not good for my game. Focusing on principles executed well, is. If social media is toxic, Frikki channel is medicinal. Zero BS. Kobe smiles upon us. Also I love that you even included an example from a narrative film XD
Thanks for this. I always have problems being more physical, I always get too nice in my own mind, not wanting to hurt ppl. But then I box out and get rebounds aggressively so idk what's wrong with my brain :( Will be practicing these!!!
Yes bro same I am afraid I might hurt someone by being physical, well I try not to be but I still hurt someone and I'm very apologetic about it idk what's wrong with me
it’s because y’all never been punched in the face GET OUT THERE basketball is a physical sport and you’re holding yourself back and that doesn’t mean fight everybody that means learn how to use your body the right way. look at how luka does this he’s great, look at steph all the small guards do this to stay in the nBA
@@flamethrower8080 u saying that literally proves his point, bro needs to go back to that long ago to remember a time he even got punched and it wasn't in the face

Respect the compliment, but honestly I'm not a big fan of today's "skills trainer" culture. In my opinion we should be playing more pickup, more 1v1, playing more of other sports. Meanwhile doing way less (if any) "skills workouts".
@@farhan2394-r7w The culture of most players having their own skills trainer who puts them through 1v0 workouts with no decision making. Time could be spent better for example by playing pickup.
great vid. watching this I realized a lot of the time I don't get easy layups or end up getting blocked/contested is I go wide, I'm gonne try this out at tomorrows open gym. Thanks fam! wish me luck making varsity next year, your videos are a great help
Coach Frikki. I find that all of your videos are helpful, but this one was a live changer for me. I'm a big guy and no one never explained this to me. I've always struggled even with smaller defenders!! I'm still getting the hang of it but the thing with bumping and closing gaps have made me unstoppable 😭😭Thank you so much!!!!
This is a GREAT GREAT video. I heard about “the angles” over 10 years ago but this taught me a couple things I didn’t know, this is the most thorough vid I’ve seen on the topic. Thank you
Banger video as always but I also reckon it’s important to note that even though AFTER you get an advantage on ur man u should drive super tight to cut them off, usually the first (and sometimes second dribble) after your move do have to be a bit wider in order to get outside their frame and gain an advantage (unless you cross them up like crazy)
Great point. This video is solely focusing on what to do after you gain that initial advantage. The other part is tricky, you can't go too tight against strong defenders, while attacking too wide will get you into tough angles. Gotta find that sweetspot in between!
@@CoachFrikki I was practicing finishing using this same concept in this video. The one that comes natural to me is bumping them out of the play. I believe in tight angles, but i also believe in closing the gap at the rim and physically bumping them while they're still running in front if you can't initiate contact earlier. There are times where you just have to keep closing that gap. I don't think the ref will call a foul on the push off if he's running in front to cut you off and has not stopped moving because you will still be seen as controlling your space
great analysis, this should be taught more in highschool or early basketball club. I've seen players only focused on getting to the rim, but this video explains how dribbling to the side to cut the defender then use the momentum against them really works well. and remember what makes NBA players can do it seamlessly is because they can do stop and shoot, and they all have their own 'weapon' to use.
I feel like i improved my game just from watching this. Thanks so much As a defender, i subconsciously cut them off like in your video, but when im on the attack its true i always tend to drive wide to avoid contact. Will have to get used to driving tight and taking the contact.
Bro my friend James sent me this video and tomorrow at PE ima cross everybody up this is literally something I needed to know my entire time playing basketball bro I subbed cuz this info is so useful thanks man! ❤
I'm 31 long past playing at any level back in the day I was always a good shooter, and probably have received more blocks than the law should allow. I would drive right past players back in the day, easy burning them, and get blocked and now I realize I never gave those bumps b/c I thought I'd be closer to the shot blocker not knowing that's not how it works, I am literally mind blown that no one taught me this, blessing this new generation
Hi Coach, your videos might actually improve my game a lot quickly as your tips are straight to the point based from what I have been learning from you recently, and I like it honestly. Though at 6:20, how can we identify when the defender Backs Up and gives us the opportunity to put them under the rim? And how can we body them whenever theyre in our way or close the gap theyre making without getting a foul or worse, injuring them? Thanks a lot!

Damn this is eye opening because good players do this unconsciously, and bad players drive wide because they’re afraid of contact.
