Just like the end of the game, this song represents hope. Even when it seemed like it was completely over, the telescope rose to see the world. The beginning of this track is dark and depressing, and then we hear those pounding drums as we break through the smog. To me, this game represents hope and fighting back. A true masterpiece that doesn’t get enough recognition.
Exactly, a music that does not bring you a happy ending, but rather hope that after the darkest of hours, there is always a chance for things to get better.
The telescope seeing the world wasn’t exactly a good thing as the sign painter is heavily implied to be a villain working for WOGCorp who’s only beginning to question their methods at the end
I used to play this game all the time as a kid, and I could never get past mom's computer. Today was the day I finished the game, and saw the ending for the first time
How can one track from a simple video game bring me such intense feeling? It makes me realize that my life is everything I know, and yet it is so insignificant in a grand scheme of things. I have everything and nothing at the same time. We shine a torchlight to those who are near, and yet we're invisible to those who are far away from us. Is our goal to become a beam of light seen by everyone or to pass on a flame to your close ones that will burn in them for generations?
I just realised that Krzyhau here rediscovered this track, liked it so much to write a motivational comment of sorts... and then made it into his triple laser compilation. (to be fair WoG sounds did appear before, but that video, with this comment is just perfect.)
A music that does not bring you a happy ending, but rather hope that there is always a tomorrow, that after the darkest of hours, there is always a chance for things to get better.
I never got to play this game, and honestly, I can't remember how I discovered this magnificent masterpiece of a song, but wow! So ominous and yet hopeful all at once. A true masterpiece!
Call me overdramatic, but hearing this for the first time as a kid somehow moved me to tears. It was... magical. I'm glad I grew up with video games with excellent soundtracks.
I don’t blame you! This made me cry too! The sound of this song just made me feel a huge portion of drama and serenity, like this song was meant to be the epilogue of this entire game.
This song is like a story, an epic tale of adventure and sadness. It definitely one of my favourite pieces in the soundtrack. When the choir comes in I get goosebumps, but not any particular image or emotion I can comment on.
I thought I liked this music... until 1:55 When the chills started going down my spine, and my brain could only feel the emotion of the song....I LOVED it....
This song, existent in our universe... THIS SONG, THIS CELESTIAL SONG OF GODS, existing in our world. This song is at the beginning, already on a whole other level. It sounds like a song in an apocalypse movie.
@@tsuzyx9672 I think the craziest part is the fact this song exists and came to existance out of nothing more but a bunch of boxes, chairs, and singers surrounding a single microphone...HOW DID THEY DO IT!?
You shouldn't have even bothered writing this comment, your life is too short for things like that. Instead play world of goo 1 and 2 until you die. Then find a way to repossess your body and play more.
It truly saddens me how this amazing soundtrack doesn't get the recognition it totally deserves. Every single song in this soundtrack is filled with such intense unexpected emotion. That be one of pure extacy, fear, adventure... And sadness. And all from a very well designed and fun game called World of Goo? One of my favorite tracks in this game is called Jelly and it provoques such emotions everytime when I listen to it, then there's the red carpet which drowns my mind in pure imagination on what could be going on. This soundtrack is amazing and I will love it forever. This one especially... Combined with the title. God, there's so much emotion in this. One that always brings me to tears is "Are You Coming Home, Love MOM" because you don't expect to care for a computer in a game like this, but then you do, and you feeel the pain when you have to say goodbye to her, because she's just not there anymore afterwards... God. What a soundtrack, what a game.
Do you know how much I freaking LOVE this soundtrack?! It has elements that I rarely hear in any sort of media, let alone video games. Each song sounds so eerie but triumphant in an oddly hollow way, and it accurately portrays the story of the game through its music. I would love to meet the person who came up with this masterpiece of an ost!
Literally the soundtracks of this game is one of the best of gaming, and is very underrated and is a game that release in 2008 and is the first indie game
this is a special type of game, one with a capacity to make me feel there there exists more within them. i feel like theres some hidden cache of levels somewhere that i just haven’t found, some secret that collects digital dust, just waiting for someone to find it. its weird for it to dig so deep into my head, i could swear that it exists somehow. i cant properly describe the feeling but this music makes me feel it in droves. i hope that one day i can make something that captures people the way that this captures me.
Now THIS has to be one of my favorite songs from the entire game. The increasing melody as the song progresses through the first half is so demanding and gives off such a wonderful feeling! And to think that the drums were made by banging on chairs and cardboard boxes?! HOLY SHIT THIS IS AMAZING!!!
I can't believe how much this game perfects the feeling of the 'last hurrah' of something that was once great, but is now winding down to its inevitable death, and scavengers are circling ready to pick the corpse clean. A noble thing falling to pieces, just like a tower to the heavens crumbling under its own weight.
This song sounds like a credits sequence that plays whenever you are seeing a place for the last time, like leaving a school, and the memories fade in and put similar to the credits in this game. I will never forget when my girlfriend told me she was leaving. It was over 2 months ago, and I have not seen her since. Somehow, we both grew up playing this game. Whenever I hear this song now I just see all the great times we spent together. It's sad, but I wouldn't have it any other way.
This song associate me with the movie called "9" (Shane Acker, 2009, "these little rag dools with souls") and that makes it even better. I like it very much, even stronger than "Red Carpet". Amazing song.

No song from any movie or game has given me so many goosebumps. The fact that that GODLIKE percussion was made by banging boxes and chairs is astounding. Good gravy I can't praise this theme enough

From video's description: This has become the unofficial second theme to World of Goo, after we used it in our second trailer. I originally wrote this for an animated short film I made with some friends. I recorded a bunch of performers all huddled around a single microphone in my bedroom to get the layers used in this track. Drums were made by banging on chairs and cardboard boxes.
