So I've watched the entirety of season 2 and oh boy, do I have a lot on my mind. Especially as a person, who read the original novel.
This video is a tribute to the waiting game, that both Xiang Liu and Xiao Yao played throughout this story. A game, nobody could ever win, no matter how they both wanted to. Xiang Liu waited for Xiao Yao to convince him, that her feelings were real and he wasn't just a "backup plan", when Jing wasn't around. He feared, that being with him would hurt her and make her life miserable, because she would never forget her true love. And yet, he hoped and waited for Xiao Yao to prove him wrong.
Xiao Yao waited for Xiang Liu to show her, that she will be the only one on his mind and he could stay the carefree Fangfeng Bei around her forever. She never considered, that Xiang Liu is Fangfeng Bei and Fangfeng Bei is Xiang Liu, only acting slightly differently in different circumstances. She hoped that he treated her sincerely, but still waited for him to tell this to her in a serious manner.
At the end of the day, they both waited for something, that was never going to come to life. Because of their own fears and doubts they failed to put their faith in this relationship and each other. Tragedy, that broke their hearts and left a bitter aftertaste.
