@@shaniliyanage8252 Tan Jianci portrayed this character all too well. It almost feels like the drama production team doesn't deserve to have such a talented person. And it hurts because they didn't really do justice to this complex, tragic and fascinating character. He had so much more depth in the novel and has done so much more for Xiao Yao... But partially I also cried because they showed some of the things he did and his feelings about having to do, what he did. All in all, he is my personal heaven and hell in the fictional world, as he no doubt is for lots of people now, regardless of whether they read the novel or not.

Ye Shiqi had a lot of help from everyone around them. Firstly, Xiang Liu didn't know how to express his emotions and feelings properly, so he hurt XY. And Ye Shiqi or TSJ was there to comfort her. That's why she started to develop feelings for him: she wanted someone to take care of her in her life. Later XL was fighting, when Cang Xuan came to take XY to the Haoling Emperor - again, she didn't want to go to TSJ, but had no other choice. After that, XL abandoned her at the island, but followed her to make sure, she made it. But TSJ was there, waiting. Later on, XY says it herself: it was her brother, that needed help from TSJ, so she agreed to meet him. She had more fun and was more relaxed with FFB at that time. Lots of help comes from XL himself, as he made a great effort to let these two end up together.
He knew, that if he showed her, how he truly felt, it would complicate everything for her. Because then she would doubt her choice to be with TSJ and suffer because of the war between her brother and beloved one. He didn't consider, that they could've solved their problems together and would've found a way to stay together. And I think he also didn't want to make her go through the pain again. She just had a heartbreak because of FFII being pregnant and new suffering would be yoo much. And I think that XL also thought, that she couldn't really want to kiss him, she just wanted him to be a replacement for TSJ, just to help her forget her pain.
It is not that he didn't want to. He was summoning every ounce of his control not to. He just doesn't want her to be in pain nor go through pain, keep her hopes up then break it later or disappoint her again. If you pay attention or notice in the drama, you have to understand XL is not someone who would put his loved ones or comrades in a difficult position. He will protect her even from himself. XL is the only ML who didn't PROMISE anything to her but he is the one that is always there when she needs someone the most, whe she feels like the world would abandon her. Also, XY is a weak half demon. Meaning, extreme hurt or heartbreak will kill her. If you notice her spitting blood because of her disappointment of TSJ. The only reason why she survived with it was because XL bared the pain and carried it along with her this was not clearly shown in the drama tho😅
Because he really in love with her but is afraid she doesn't return her affection for him ,he wants her love not pity and also knows he lives on the other side of the fence,my best parts of this drama is there time together ,they only hurt each is because each is afraid of falling for each other that's why she doesn't want him in her dreams, can't wait for part to when it comes to Netflix,I just hope I'm disappointed at who she ends up with and ending
