  • It has been a while since we did a video as our house was inundated with about 30 cm of water, in the Brisbane February floods. We have had to move out of our house whilst repairs are undertaken. The upside is we have moved temporarily , to the most beautiful area of North Lakes, which offer a wonderful choice of locations , and bike paths to ride. On this ride we rode to Deception Bay, which is around 10km each way. We follow the bikeways through some scenic parks and a variety of scenery. We follow the Salt Water Trail which has the most amazing reflections with the trees on the water. We then ride a couple of suburban streets, cross the main road before heading down to the foreshore ofDeception Bay. Molly made some new furry friends and re -aquainted herself with Fritz the schnauzer. We then had breakfast at the Zesty Lemon, which is an amazingly dog friendly cafe , where we had a tasty breakfast , before heading back home. It was a lovely ride which I hope you will enjoy watching. I am looking forward to showing you some more of the lake areas, in my future videos, we have been to. I will show you how easy it is to travel around North Lakes avoiding having to use most main roads. So don't forget to subsribe so you do not miss our future videos.

I have issues with the video editing software from time to time. I do my video then it won’t format. My videos also look so much better on my computer than before I load up to you tube! Drives me crazy. This was the first one I had done since the flood, so I was a bit rusty. James hadn’t been 100% so I couldn’t use his audio. Hopefully soon we can get back to dual audio. 😀You will love pedal assist!

Good on you keeping active . It is a wonderful activity for physical and mental health. I love it so much , the bush , the birds and the animals, plus where I normally live riding by the sea, but the lagoons are lovely up here .

It is going to be a while, depending on supplies. They are saying the only major hold ups could be the two pack kitchen doors, but we sit down tomorrow with the kitchen people to plan and order😀 probably another 3 months. Gives me more time to video the beautiful areas up here. 😀

Yes there has been a lot going on, and the ‘fun’ is about to start as they are starting to prepare for the rebuild. Lots of consultations and hopefully not too many hold ups....but it is GREAT to be riding. 😀

Hi Pam and James. Very sorry to hear about your flooded house. As per Tom below I noticed you hadn't posted recently and was thinking about you as I worked on my trike this morning. Glad to hear you are both well. Hope work to repair your home goes well and to schedule. This video - another great ride and a welcome breakfast spot,

Rain rain go away! I haven’t ridden the pathways back home, bar the Deagon deviation and around Sandgate, but the pathways up here in North Lakes are great.

oh, I just picked up the fact that you had been flooded out....OMG! Soooo sorry to hear this....I'm hoping you can recover from this OK....I'm sure you will.

Yes we did get flooded. Have lived there for 40 years, never went under in the last benchmark floods in 1974 , so totally unexpected it to flood until it did.......which was very quickly once the water started coming up the driveway. Had to get James out on my Kayak! But I did have a precautionary instinct and managed to get the trikes about 40 cm off the ground and the water came up 38 cm. The rebuild has started and they have sheeted the walls, but there is going to be a delay of about two more months in relation to kitchen cupboard doors.
The upside is North Lakes is a lovely place to ride and lots of different options to ride to. Can show you around Boondall when we return. Lots of options back there as well.
