I bought a lower mileage Fire tanker truck that came up for tender sale.Strpped the tank, and put on a hooklift.3116 cat, single axle.Great little truck, just too light for bigger loads.18000 miles now.

Thank you for taking the time to film, edit, upload, all your videos Dave👍 I remember when Andrew Camarata use to film working on jobs and learning new things, but that was once upon a time anymore. Now it’s just a personal home improvement, raising dogs and ATV channel anymore. Thanks for teaching myself and others what your job is like being a business owner. I learn a lot👍🙂

Great find especially in this current market. I have a 567 and Intl HX both allison auto- you can’t beat an automatic these days. Easier to put a new driver in the seat with an auto too! Best of luck great content. Keep slammin those cans.

The 2013 Western Star roll off I used to drive has 6spd Allison automatic. Dropping bins is a little easier when you can have it in drive while rolling the bin off keeps the reeving cable tight. The Sterling I also drove it has a 15spd putting the truck in deep reduction when dropping bins. It was a love hate with the 6spd automatic. Air ride on a roll off, I got used to it. I preferred the spring ride Sterling. I hauled 50 yarders loaded right to the tit 15 tons sometimes 16 tons. A guy would forget to drop the bags it would be a holy sh*t moment looking in the mirror seeing the bin leaning heavy when dumping a load 😂 You're new Peterbilt won't be a tight spot truck its going to take a bit of jockeying getting into the oh can you drop the bin in here 😆 You should be happy with the 378 it will haul anything you'll be dragging up the rails.

I’m actually surprised how good the steering radius is on this truck. I would say it’s equivalent to my 335 I had.

Hey Dave. Love the aluminum rims on your new ride. The good thing about an automatic is when your stopped at a light on a hill or incline. It's a little more worry free pulling away, since, so many people now a days stop 4 to 6 feet away from you. Very unnerving. Plus someday soon, it will be nearly impossible to by a standard. My company has only a handful of standards left out of 300 tractors. As a matter of fact. Hanaford Supermarkets is going to start replacing their tractors to electric starting next year. Anyways, glad to see you keep the economy moving by buying more equipment, haha. Well brought and thanks for the informative walk-around!

    • @Dumpster_Dave

I wonder how much the electric bill will be every month for charging one of these trucks, maybe cheaper than fuel

That truck was originally from Houston Tx. The company put their last name on all the trucks they have Gonzales on the hoist. They still run newer Pete’s and Mack’s. I bought a Mack rd with a 13 speed and accurate hoist. Good truck run it every day grossing 60000 plus or minus 1000 had not giving me any problems other than the steering put seal leaking. The company was Nexus waste.

Nice truck! I'm in the dumpster business also, but we only run single axel trucks at the moment. I'm looking into getting into 30 and 40 yard dumpsters so need a tandem . From your experience seem like you run all tandems what brand truck would you recommend to run? Is there one brand you prefer? Love your videos also thanks Dave!

Must be nice to have a 2000 model truck, I had to replace all of my trucks with anything prior to a 2010 model engine and with a filter, I had all Cat 3406 engines and they were perfect non oil leaking great trucks but the California Air Resources Board made them illegal and then because of our low mileage usage on these trucks because we do local work there was no Grant Fund money available to me when they took my trucks away to keep me from earning an honest living, the good thing that I am an honest and hard working person that just went into major debt and kept going with no help from the once great State of California. The moral of my story is don't let California come to your State or it will become as immoral as California.
