    I've told people for years I don't have a dominant eye and they never believe me. I try to explain how I actually get an opaque overlap of two ghosted thumb webs covering over the target when I try the hand window test (like the finger hotdog illusion for kids). No one gets it. The thumb test always results in either two equally ghosted thumbs or two equally blurry targets.

      Bro I thought I was crazy I gave the same thing my problem is that I just see two thumbs or two objects

      @@hotovejmichalek7748 I also do not have a dominant eye, and see two ghosted images as you do. Agree, people do not understand this type of vision.

      Same here! I thought I was just really bad at determining my dominant eye.

      I recently noticed that I see two equally ghosted images of nearby objects or even my hands. I can't do the triangle dominant eye test either because I can't have the object centered. There are always 2 ghosted images when I open both eyes lol

    I do not have a dominant eye. They are codominant and the world apparently looks different than what >90% of people see. What I see when I focus my sight on something nearby, is that everything in the background is duplicated and stacked on top of one another at half intensity/opacity each. Happens all the time with traffic lights and road signs.
    And also when focusing on something far away and I hold up a pencil, I will see two pencils, at half intensity each.

    So I tried 3 different tests.
    The first was holding my finger over an object and seeing which moves. The issue was that I didn’t know what finger to focus on as I saw two that were equally “ghosted”. Second was the triangle one. However, it would jump between right and left dominant. I found out it was because whichever side my hands were on, the eye on that side would favor it. Hands on right side, right eye. Hands on left side, left eye. I could have it perfectly centered, but it would still change up on me because we can’t hold our hands perfectly center and perfectly still.
    Third, and final, was make a 👌and look at an object. This one gave me a clear answer. Left eye. A couple hours later I thought “I used my right hand for the test, would it give me the same results with my left?” It didn’t. If I use my left hand I’m right eye dominant, and if I use my right hand I’m left eye dominant. And it didn’t matter which side of my body my hands are either. Weird stuff

    This test has never worked for me... If I'm staring at a distant object and move my hands with the opening directly centered with the object, at the end I'm not looking at the object because of the double image of my hands at that point... One eye never fights for dominance on which double image to choose. I've always shot slingshot, archery, and pistols and rifles with scopes with both eyes open.

      Both eyes open is best for aim, so you're good there! Next time you're at the eye doctor ask for their help to see if they can determine which eye is dominant - in case you're curious.

  • @mariokart8054

    When I do the eye dominance test with the triangle, I see two triangles. I can "pick" one to favor which gets covered up more by the skin of my hand - at will. Naturally I favor the triangle on the right (which is my left eye) but I can easily choose to move the left triangle over and look at the object through my right eye.
    When i'm reading or just looking around normally, the image i'm "seeing" in my head jumps from eye to eye. I can close my left eye and the image stays the same, or it can be shifted, same with my right eye - I seem to jump from eye to eye with the other ghosted out - but not at the periphery, if i really think about it at the edges of my vision is always doubled.
    If I'm looking at an object where a part is hidden around a corner with one eye, my other eye takes over as the dominant eye since I can "see" more and I just use that one - without even closing my eyes or intentionally refocusing, I can turn my head and favor my left eye when my head is turned left, or my right eye when turned right.

      I can shift the eyes also as you described! It feels like it's shifting some kind of energy or focus coming from my brain 😂 I can do lots of stuff like wiggle my ears individually etc... 🧐🤨

    The triangle test I am always right eye dominant. If I put my “nose to the charging handle” and blink, my eye dominance goes to the left eye since it’s unobstructed. Very annoying.

  • @jingledell1

    For me the object is visible with my left eye open, which would seem to indicate left eye dominance, if I understand correctly. But when presenting with a pistol, I have an easier time acquiring a sight picture with whichever eye is closest to the target. And when transitioning between targets, I seem to be incapable of keeping my sight picture in the same eye. Instead, I have to transition eyes as I transition hemispheres. I think I might be one of the lucky few with ambi eyes.

      Or the lucky few who understands their body better then the most of us! Bro, im here because of “Cross Eye Dominance”, Right Handed and Left Eye. Digging and doing research so I wont get depressed about not becoming John Wick, came across a couple videos of shooting shot guns and rifles and people really dont have a dominant eye, we’re just not shooting right.
      Imma try what you’re saying as well today with what I learned on place the rifle or shot gun first on my cheek weld and leaning on the front foot and aiming with it and its making my right eye be dominant and now with a pistol its the same but tricky because shooting right handed with your left eye with a pistol is easy at least for me it is so now I have to remind myself its not the right pic its the left.

    I don't have a preferred dominant eye and the concept of it really confuses me. I generally use my left eye as dominant when concentrating on things left of centre and right for right. When reading I switch dominant eye in the middle of the page to the right eye and back to the left when I start the next line. I can switch which eye is dominant at will for these "tests".

    I have done every dominance test in the book and most of them dont work for me. I drew pics of what i see vs what ppl say they see like 2 thumbs instead of 1 when holding over an object, or when you make the triangle with your thumbs and forefinger i have a third thumb with a thumbnail on each side in between my other thumbs. Also only my last 2 fingers are solid and the rest are ghost. Is that what no dominant eye results are?

  • @jvanb231

    Sometimes it's right, sometimes left, usually it doesn't move. I shoot best with both eyes open. I had an eye doc tell me basically what is happening is my brain is constantly ignoring one eye or the other to keep me from getting dizzy -- one eye is much better than the other. I also have horrible depth perception and I think it's related.

  • @CHANCEbl
    @CHANCEbl 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I'm confused. If I close my right eye the object moves to the left. If I close left eye the object moves to the right. I have tried the other ways to tell like making a small hole with the triangle and slowly bringing it to my face but it doesn't go to one eye, it just ends up in the middle on my nose. Also I can not cover up an object with any of my fingers because it's like I see around it so I can't cover a distant object to that would allow me to test eyes that way either. Am I doing something wrong?

    Hi Doug, i have a problem, I have strabismus (lazy eye), and i just had an operation (about a month ago) and it looks better, but thru my life (im 24) i made myself have 2 dominat eyes (left when i read or watch tv, bcs i couldnt see far away bcs of diopter, and afetr i got glasses i started using left eye much more; and right eye for other things such as talking to ppl....) anyways, i have glasses for over 2 years now and i started being left eye dominant even tho i used to be right eye dominant before. After the strabismus surgery, now my eyes stay str8 when i look with my non dominat eye (right eye) but my right eye goes away when i use my dominant eye (left eye) im rly frustrated and dont know what to do. Any advice ?

    Boy am I confused what I have I've got to get to the range more often I just don't have a place to shoot like I used to I'm 70 now I don't know if my eyes are changing but if I do the triangle test I clearly am crossed dominant I am right handed and clearly left eye dominant when I blink one eye and the other looking at a distance through the triangle hand however if I raise my handgun and look through my sights focusing on the distant Target or focusing on the front sight I am clearly right eye dominant I don't get it

    Is the non-dominant eye weaker?

    • @LASIKOmaha
      @LASIKOmaha  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No it's not weaker. Think of it as being right handed or left handed. Your non-dominant hand isn't weaker, it's just not the one your brain prefers for certain tasks.

    is there a relation between it and the dominant hemisphere?

    • @LASIKOmaha
      @LASIKOmaha  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We are not aware of any scientific studies that link eye dominance to hemisphere dominance. Eye dominance is similar to hand dominance.

    I maen I can do that with both eyes. Should I see an eye doctor? It's almost like my eyes are fighting for dominance 😅, sometimes, it messes with my depth perception.
