Although the Rycote Undercovers are pretty much self explanatory within their use, I just thought I'd do this video as I'm massively impressed with what they allow me to do. They're also one of those things that just does exactly what they're supposed to do.
In the video I'm demonstrating the Undercover with a RODE Lavalier GO. As I mentioned, the combination of the RODE Lavalier GO with the RODE Wireless GO is a fantastic solution for a number of recording scenarios, which is really helped by using the Rycote Undercovers to hide and stick the lav under clothing.
You can also use these Undercovers to stick a lav to the outside of clothing.
By using the circular cloth, I think it's felt, it allows you to sandwich the lav between the sticky pad and the cover, which also helps with rustling from clothing and also gives a bit of wind protection to the lavalier if worn on the outside.
I've tried this very combination by sticking the lav underneath the colour of a shirt. This also provides another place to hide or conceal the lav while at the same time help with a bit of wind protection.
I'm a big fan of Rycote as they make a lot of stuff that just simply works perfectly and gets on with its job. Their Lyre microphone shock mounts are also great. I use these for booming my indoor dialogue mic and also outdoor on my RODE boom pole. It's no wonder that RODE license the Lyre system for many of their own microphones. The awesome Video Micro comes with one as does their VideoMic Pro+. The one they supply for the NT1 is just incredible.

Great video, I was wondering if the pads stick to skin in warmer climate too. You know like when actors do stuff and get sweaty.

They will come off after a while on sweaty skin, especially on male skin if it’s quite hairy. I usually get a couple of hours out of one in those conditions. Cheers, Dave.

@@DavidHarry Thx! I got mine 2 days ago, will try to put them on the inside of a shirt so the soft part is on my skin. Maybe they'll hold on better this way.

In hot weather, I get really good results wiping the talent’s skin down with an alcohol pad before applying. (Almost like you would before drawing blood). I find that if the skin is dry when it attaches, they tend to stay there pretty reliably regardless of sweat.
