Hello Mr.Kichdy - dont spread half baked information. 1. Gulf of mannar hasnt been declared as National Marine Park yet. And the 25kms restriction has been revised to 10kms way back. 2. Employment just to meagre 1000 to 1500 ? Who told u ? There are 1500 permanent staff and around 10000 contract staff working for sterlite in terms of logistics, sampling, port, security and plant main contracts. In this 1500 permanent staff 75% are Tamils and remaining 25% includes malayalis, telugus, kannadigas and north indians ! 3. Waste containing arsenic and other heavy metals has been safely dumped in the secured land fill. So2 has been safely captured through scrubbers and sulphuric acid plant. Waste liquid has been treated in 6 ETPs, 3 RO and 1 Zero discharge plant. 4. Copper has been used as main electricity conductor and in TV, fan, mixie, grinder, washing machine, fridge, lights etc. For south India Sterlite is the main source of copper metal. Sterlite does 60% Domestic and only 40% export. 5. More over Sterlite Industries by products were used by fertilizer industries, chemical industries, cement industries etc. So many small scale industries has been developed based on our raw materials. On closing this plant those small scale industries and their employees/labours ll loose job. For your kind information. Before posting a video do analyse the issue thoroughly.
