@ThePoushal "wine" in sufism is metaphorical: Wine, Intoxication: Ecstasy, Teachings of Shaykh Tavern: Shaykh’s presence, Sufi Centre Wine tenderer: Shaykh, Beloved
Raj Rani Gupta if u want permenant sukoon so become muslim, your soul needs it this sufi song represents love for Allah and his messanger( peace be upon him)
@ThePoushal I am not muslim but I believe it is not literally wine that is asked for, Intense love for God is as heady and intoxicating wine. It is a deeply spiritual song
Yes In urdu and sufi songs there is a thing called tashbeeh where something is taken as an example. Usually wine intoxication actually means intoxication of love of Allah and love of heer ranjha and other worldly chracter also symbolises the same love
Its good to see our Indian friends listening to this magical kalaam. Sufisim and singers like Ma'am Abida parveen on both sides successfully compell us to unison and brotherhood.
Sufism at its best...All other sufi singers are equally dedicated, devoted and melodious and I love all of their singing...They too take away life out of you....but she is different..All the way...God Bless you...
Call her an artist of the century or a crown less emperor of sufi music, her words and the hand gestures, they are all impressive and yeah I feel addicted...
The expression of pure reverence from all other musicians tells the whole story. They're all better human beings for simply having been a part of this experience. Good heavens, what a voice, what improvisational dexterity. Abida is pure heaven.
Arz-o-sama kahan teri wussat ko paa sakay Mera hee dil hai jahan tu sama sakay The sky and earth, and everything in between, cannot contain your being It is only my heart where you can reside
Abida ma'am vocals are just beyond our physical comprehension. How can a person sing with those notes, which oscillate in accordance to the emphasis to the lyrics and tune? Unbelievable skill set. May you live a long life Abida Jee. Allah bless you
Sitting in America, transfixed with chills watching....Thank you Rohail Hyatt and the musicians for making this music available to the world. This is one of the best of the series, of so many greats.
A voice straight from the Heavens... the only person other than the late MS Subbulakshmi whose voice can bring you closer to the Almighty! What wouldn't I give for MS to be brought back so she and Abida can sing one... just one duet together...
One can't help listening to Abida mam, what perfaection mashaAllah... what peace it gives and refreshes the most deepest bottom of heart soul and faith... God Bless her with health... Thank you CokeStudio you guys are doing wonderous job so far... Keep it up!
This makes me disappear and dissolve into the beloved. Thank you Coke Studio, violin guy, gumby and thanks for putting up lyrics and translation in caption :) P.S. Loved the mix in the last of "Khaasa dard o gham" and violin, out of the this world -
Ho, jee Maula, Maula, Maula, Maula, Maula Mera Maula, Maula O my Master! Who is this Sufi kalaam for? One who is boundless, the one whose existence can not be contained by the skies and earth? Abida answers in the end:
The way she says Maula, directly touches universe, and her singing is totally different coming directly from heart and purely involving herself in divinity
No words....This is amazing that I never listened here when I was quiet young. I am not in 40es and I love to listen her with my closed eyes. Hats off for you.....🙌
Just to add my 2 cents, Hindusim professesses that admiration of God be realized in infinite forms. Since humans cant realise "infinity", therefore the path of progression is to start with finite forms of worship (hindi "Swakar") and then move into infinite froms of worship (Hindi: Nirakar). It is in the infinite form of worship that all becomes inclusive and there is no differentiation
This is out of this world Kalaam ...sometime i think if she wont be here ...there would be a space no one can ever fill ...None can be so pure other than Her ,,,God Bless her ,,,
Music has no barriers!! Doesn't understand any thing called Barriers!! I don't think religion has any role to play here..whatever be the culture, traditions, rituals specific to a religion, music surpasses all these things.. Love to all the Music Lovers out there.. cheers!! :-)
