It's actually ridiculous how some people talk about top players. I saw a comment on some TH-cam video recently claiming s1mple has bad crosshair placement and movement, all he does is rely on flicks. When I replied saying how ridiculous that idea is, multiple people defended the original comment.
I questioned this argument a few days ago on Reddit, after he had a 1x5 Ace on Mirage FPL. His crosshair placement was absolutely perfect, even at high sens. People need to get their heads out of their asses, leave 2015 behind and watch the matches now. He's improved a lot since then.
you're right, he doesn't have bad crosshair placement or movement at all. I think it's just in comparison to other players who have put a lot of work into their crosshair placement and movement (e.g. twistzz, niko, xantares, etc.) it looks a little clunky even though the way he plays is clearly fully functional.
i think people look at how s1mple when he runs around the map when hes not actually expecting a fight. when he is actually ready to fight he has great crosshair placement
He's right. Bad doesn't mean faceit level 5 bad. Compared to other top mechanical skill pros he is worse in some isolated aspects. He has bad movement *compared to electronic* he has bad cross placing *compared to niko*
I think given the fact that s1mple rose so quickly and was seen as that best it was inevitable that he'd grow an ego and that would effect his teamplay, but he is definitely maturing i'd like to assume and I think the way these matches are turning out are reflecting that
I think you're right, but part of what made s1mple so notoriously skilled was his ability to exploit teams through timing etc and become this super explosive/impactful player when he sees the opportunity. I'd like to see more of that given that recently (imo) he plays more reserved than he used to.
@@meza917 True, though maybe that more aggressive style of playing only gets him kills as a opposed to actually winning a game, because of how hard it is to do it consistently, even for s1mple when playing at such a high level. Perfect video, exactly what I thought when watching: s1mple stepped up right when needed the most and basically won the most important rounds right in the end for the team. Highest impact you could imagine.
The thing with the top 3 players, they all work in their system, or in s1mples case, lack of system. I do not think you could put device or zywoo in navi (if there was no language barrier) and they would be nearly as effective as s1mple. S1mple is the system in Navi. He has to make plays for them to win. I don't feel the same way about device. When he went on leave, didn't they get much better? Not a shot at device, a top player all time. But my point is he won't win you games as much as s1mple will. Zywoo, I'm not sure he could play without structure either. The pressure of being your own leader, and not making the right decision or relying on getting the first kill. Like go to Dust 2, s1mple is almost always tasked with getting the first kill. If he doesn't and it remains 5v5 for majority of the round, Navi will lose. With all that being said. I don't know if s1mple could play in a super structured astralis type team. I feel like he doesn't have the restraint possible for that
This is the first time I have seen the straight pov of s1mple and it's something else. His AWP looks and sounds 3x as powerful as anything I have ever seen. (perhaps it's your audio post processing). But he is holding angles on the very pixel and must have a reaction time below the 180ms to covert the shoulder baits into frags, again and again and again. It's astonishing.

Great casting Launders, you and scrawny are a great duo. I've noticed he is doing most of the hype casting and you do more analytical casting when the dust has settled. Is this something you have decided before hand or is it just natural for you two? It definitely works but I would love to hear you go full Sadokist and cast during multi-kills and close rounds every once and a while. Really enjoying the Blast format and production.

And half the time he *doesn't* get those resources and still manages to always have a positive K/D and high rating, let alone his other stats, regardless of his positioning or "role" in the round. S1mply baffling.
One thing that became super obvious is that boombl4 and perfecto stopped buying s1mple an awp every round, and everybody played more for themselves while playing for the team (if this makes sense). I would notice that boombl4 would go consistently negative needing to fully support s1mple, but this tournament shows that they compensated for the previous overcompensation of helping s1mple.
