Sailor 273 is sure interesting - I'm glad you got to highlight it for us with the big swatches. Thanks!
273 is one of my favorite browns and favorite inks in general, so glad to see it getting more attention! 373 isn’t listed here but it’s also gorgeous .
You are doing a great job with these vlogs. Love your work.
Wow, for anyone with the Atlantis swatching book, that Sailor color would be great for shells!
Thank you for sharing. I was looking to pick up a few more brown inks.
Great video. I like brown inks quite a bit, yet don't have many. A favorite, dark "every day" brown for me is Diamine Macassar.
Same here! My favourite (especially for sort of coffee-themed journalling) is Diamine Raw Sienna. A bit lighter and warmer than both of your choices - but for me the way it comes out on Tomoe River paper is just right. :)
I love Lie De The! It really looks like your writing with tea - I am using it in my 5 year techo this year. I also really like Penbbs # 443 (Mung bean cake), but it is one of those pink-y chromoshaders that can get tricky to pin to one colour. I would love to try sesame oil, hopefully it's still in stock when I make my yearly Yoseka order later on in the year 😅
Brown inks are my favorite! When sesame oil came back in stock on your site I kind of went all out and got a bunch of other brown inks 😂
Those J Herbin glass nibs are so wonderful. I can't believe Sailor studio is on the list of browns. There you go you got your sailor comment. 💜
i’m still so sad that pilot discontinued their iroshizuku tsukushi ink. it was my first ever fountain pen ink so it holds a very special place in my heart 🥲💕
My favorite is Stone Road of Gion, it’s my go-to! I also like Winter Wood and Lungo but Stone Road takes the cake for me
I've been eyeing Lie De The so bad the last year. Might have to snag some soon!
Been looking for a good brown for my limited edition coffee twsbi pen!
If you don’t mind the brand, noodlers gold & limonite is very similar to Herbin lie de thé. I used the two back to back and chose the noodlers but it was close. Another “relative” I thought was Taccia golden wheat. On another note, a completely different but nice brown is de atrementis mocca bronze. A bit of a clogger tho.
Nice! Thanks for the recommendations!!
Two brown inks that I particularly like are Sheaffer Latte, and Diamine Chocolate Brown. These 2 are on the darker side.
Waterman Absolute Brown is my favorite
The is also Dominant Industry Lungo. And the famous (which you don't carry) Akkerman SBRE Brown
Love Winter Wood and that black sheen! Other good brown (ish) colors: dominant industry autumn forest (depends on the paper and angle you’re looking at it), and Diamine Winter Spice
Is there a video on the top 5 beginner’s fountain pen (under $100), inks, and instructions on ink changes?
We shared our picks here: th-cam.com/video/Q_d8LJP88xM/w-d-xo.html
It would've been great if you could've color corrected the overhead shots a little bit 😅
Noted! Thanks for the feedback :)
It is always super interesting to me to see people ink swatching and categorizing inks .. to me none of those would be "brown-brown ink" .. I would put them in black, sepia, sepia-green, pink and brown-black categories myself .. the only browns I would be okay with as brown-browns (at least in the photo) are those two colour-changing Yurameku at the beginning :D .. I dont mean to challenge here - I just wanted to point out how FP ink colour is very hard to categorize :)
My all time fave browns are Ferris Wheel Press - Steeped Umber and Vinta - Fortaleza or KWZ - Honey .. so I guess I am more of a warm shade and yellow/red leaning focused as far as brown inks go :D
No Pelikan 4001 brown? awwwww
Oooh we just don't have that one haha sorry!
