Gen. Bamayi himself was a coupist. He was involved in viatually all the military coup since the sudden assassination of Gen. Muritala up on till the death of Abacha. OBJ took the right decision to immediately retire all the politically exposed military officers in order to protect democracy from been truncated like some of the military rascals deed in the previous republic. Bamayi's submission that the military were already tired of governance is not true. Absolutely misinforming the public because after the sudden death of Gen Abacha there was internal succession crisis within the military on who to succeed Abacha which Gen. Bamayi as the chief of staff then was involved in. I remember vividly when Gen. Malu who was then chief of staff during OBJ tenure challenge the president when he was ask through the minister of defense to grant Amarica marine access to our military formation for the purpose of reorganization and reorientation of our men because at that time many of our military equipment were domicile in Kaduna and the president needed to spreed military presence across the nation which eventually leads to Gen malu's forceful retirement from service. Note; If not for the pragmatic military knowledge of president Obasanjo to take that noble decision the military would have truncated the democracy we currently enjoy which is the longest in our democratic journey so far. I salute Gen. Obasanjo for many of the decisions his government took during that earlier stage of this 4th republic.
