Smart kid, still a lot to learn about the real academic arguments of the right and left, especially in one of the arguments he help Vaush write. I’d like to see him back as well but I would more like him to escape the online politics sphere and go to academia, because god knows there are brain dead morons taking over there. You know it’s going to sound weird, but I kinda admire that the kid actually puts his money where his mouth is. Obviously it’s not smart financially, and he certainly could have tried to have some of these conversations behind the scenes. (I’m not sure if he did or didn’t tbh) But he and Demonmama are two of the only creators that were ostensibly *made* by Vaush who actually step out of line and disagree with creators despite potentially taking a financial hit. Almost all creators back each other up even if they do things that are bad and/or wrong by their own standards. It would be nice if they did call each other out for bad behavior. Obviously I wouldn’t suggest doing it in this toxic kind of hissy fit way, but it’s refreshing that those two creators actually seem to put values over cash in their own way.
I should say that it’s not just that they don’t seem to call each other out behind the scenes at least, but most of the time they’re actively making excuses for each other. This is most obvious when anyone talks about the dumb shit Hasan gets up to.
I believe that’s predominantly for two reasons. 1. The audience he cultivated doesn’t really allow for pushback on certain creators. But if he followed your advice and continued to stick to his values I believe he could possibly change a bit of his culture. 2. I don’t believe that he has ever really had enough offline relationships to understand how to engage with people in a healthy disagreement. Anytime this happens he comes off like an unhinged lunatic (and not really in a fun way) who is also very immature and arrogant. If he could learn that healthy disagreement style I do believe that he could get a decent amount of his audience to at the very least not want to spit roast him for a different opinion. And honestly I think he should try because currently we don’t have that kind of thinking on the left. I very much believe that we need it moving forward. As of now the general way of thinking seems to be something akin to “Oh you disagree? You’re just a Destiny orbiter”. I also think if he followed your advice he could maybe take a small hit to his income in the short term to cultivate an audience more forgiving of the disagreement. I wouldn’t usually think that would be good advice for someone who has so many followers, but his engagement already seems down to just the few people that are diehard orbiters anyhow. It’s the perfect time to try it.
@ this exactly. Unfortunately knowing how much good advice he never takes though I’m guessing he’s not going to try. He’s a perfect example of how people can be ruined by the internet. He expects everything to be handed to him which is especially evident when hearing how he talks about setbacks. He got an insta-audience basically, and he believes that entitles him to enough money to live off of even when he doesn’t do the work. A real part time job would teach him so much about real life and interpersonal relationships. But he talks as though that thought is poison to his life. I know it now sounds like I’m shit talking him, but it’s hard to convey how he acts without coming off as mean. At least I haven’t figured out a nice way to describe entitlement and laziness in a nice fluffy teddy bear way.

If Trump actually does any of the authoritarian things he said he would, that right wing propagandists claimed was just media lies, would you actually fight against that or would you shrug it off like most conservatives?
