I’m a professional hat maker myself and have corresponded with this guy. He’s truly one of the few in this industry out there carrying the torch from generations before him doing things the way they have done them for generations and is passionate about what he does.

I’m just getting into making and restoring hats! I’ve looked many places for a hat stretcher/stand and I was hoping maybe you could point me in the right direction! It’s an absolute passion and I wanna do things the right way!
Where can I find the felt hat bodies?
I need to see the finished product and more importantly see how you repaired that giant moth/bullet hole.😭

Needle-felt wool roving on/around the hole in the same color as the hat until smooth and level.
just a wear spot, happens on all hats eventually

This is a short version of a longer one. He did not repair the hole, as it is part of the history and lore of the hat. Per the families wishes.
