Thank you for the video. I just recently found your channel and it looks like it's going to be one of my regular detecting channels that I watch :) Your video comparing the PI's to the Manticore and Deus II, got me to avoid buying a PI for my low mineralized ground. Although the Vanquish has a slightly smaller coil, it may or not be advantageous for co-located iron and good targets. It all depends on where the good target and iron are positioned in relation to the coil's perimeter and center lobe. For example, depending on said positioning, a larger coil can unmask a particular target in iron better than a smaller coil.
@DIGA-m7q thanks for the sub. Glad the video helped you out. I agree on coil size vs iron location to target. It's always good to go over a site with multiple coils.
Nice comparison video, R&R. Ya like you stated in the video, a 5x8 coil might help in the iron patch. It would be interesting to see how the Apex compares to the Vortex VX9. If you still have an Apex, can you run the Apex, Vortex, thru the same tests in a post-update-comparison(video)? This might help Apex users out there who want to see what improvements the Vortex might offer them. Thanks.
@ OK. Thank you. By the way, I’ve found an anomaly in my Apex’s operation. The Apex emits no tone or TID for a Peace Dollar or Silver Eagle when detecting in zero mode, Iron audio on, Multi Salt, channels 5, 6(occasionally), 7, 8, about 3” below the coil. Have you ever observed this anomaly with your Apex?
Was 3 the highest recovery speed on the vortex? I seen videos of paystreak superfreak and his mineralized soils where slow recovery speed wouldn't hit targets and he raised it and it made the targets sound out, so I wonder if it's similar in your soil
@Detectken yes i got the fiberglass rod. I haven't used it much more than testing it. I seems like it's going to work great, especially for gold nugget hunting
hoping Garrett would have a winn here but seams to be a mediocre offering like the Apex I had the Vanquish 540 pro a nice entry level machine but went back to my xp Deus thanks for the video
Curious why in the video comparison never saw you ground balance either detector? Why? Also need several hours on a machine to know how it reacts to your input. I'm not convinced you have enough time invested on the Vortex to pass judgement on how use it properly.
@rogerking9173 Vanquish has no ground balance. Vortex was ground balanced and settled at 97, so yes it was ground balanced off video. Not much to the Vortex, pretty simple machine to operate. I've tested the Vortex many hours before the video was ever made. It is what it is. It needs work
You only saw the test video. You didn’t see the hours he put in before the video. Just like my videos people don’t see the countless hours I put in before I ever even make a video.
Single frequently machines have issues?? What you mean any Garrett !!! I can name you so many single frequently units like the Golden mask , Deeptech , Makro Racer ,that will cope just fine .. When using the 340 in the test ,try less sensitivity & not scrubbing the ground with the coil, you will get a better signal ...
Wonerful, wonerful machine....that Vanquish is! I'll take one 540 to go please! Just seeing the least capable Vanquish model beat the Almighty Vortex in this test is just slightly embarrassing. And yes, a lot of other machines were released by major manufacturers performing not so great also. It's not how you start the race it's how you finish it. Minelab and Nokta are good at correcting their machines. We will see how Garrett compares with their updates. I'm afraid I'm not optimistic.
The Legend's only real issue at release, was excessive falsing under certain salt conditions. That was remedied quickly by Nokta. Virtually all other updates for the Legend were user requests for even more features and/or specific enhancements. For example, I made a request to Nokta for the iron filter to go even lower, and also requested M3 to be weighted lower than M1 to allow for even better unmasking performance in aluminum trash. Nokta granted those requests with updates.
Good video! The hype road just ran out...
3rd video I've watched on vortex and things aren't looking too good for this machine 😕

I think avoiding a PI for low mineral ground is a mistake.
@@phrunt Thank you for the comment. Why do you think that?
They better up their game if they are trying to compete with the big boys!
Thanks for the comparison on the two
I’ll take the Vanquish over the Garrett, the Vortex tones are horrendous
Hate the garrett sound!lol
I been Telling Bash to Start testing on High Mineral Soil. The differences will be Bigger

@DIG_5050 i do have an Apex and will do a video in the coming weeks. Right now, the Apex performance is about the same as the VX9 in my soil.

I havent seen any close up pics of the cam locks. Did they use the old school style twist locks lol?
@flyrock2 Yes, they're twist locks, doesn't seem like i can twist them hard enough to keep the shaft from slipping up and down.

@digginggopher 3 is the highest recovery speed. But yes in general, raise recovery speed to help with mineralization.
Off topic, but did you ever get the carbon fiber shaft, for the (I believe) manticore? If so, has it caused any issues?
@Detectken yes i got the fiberglass rod. I haven't used it much more than testing it. I seems like it's going to work great, especially for gold nugget hunting

Fail.
This isn't the first and won't be the last high end machine to arrive needing to be updated, think about it😮😮
@RussTNails-fw9ds yep, Legend had multiple updates to finally get it right. Hopefully Garrett can do the same.
