All the Bolts can charge at 12 amps. 8 is the default in case you have something drawing power from that line. However after your car is turned off you can set from the console the charge speed to 12 amps.

The only issue I have is that my 2023 Bolt EV will always default to 8 amps regardless. I have to manually keep setting the charge to 12 amps every time I plug into our garage 110-120V outlet. I was hoping it would remember my GPS location and know that this outlet should be 12 amps ... it's certainly doable on the software side so I'm hoping a future software update will be more intelligent on charge options.

@@robainscough Mine is the same way. I asked them about it and they said you can only charge 12 amps if nothing else is using that plug/line. Otherwise it could be a fire risk. They default to 8 amps to force people to chose 12 amps and not just plug it in not knowing the risks. For myself I spent $300 and installed a level2 32 amp in my garage. That included new breaker for the box, 8 awg 4 wire molex wire run, nema 14-50 plug, and a basic level 2 charger. Charges my car in 2-4 hours most days. :)

So ALL 2022 onwards Bolt’s have DC Fast charging Level 3 capabilities, it’s just that it’s a terrible charge curve, briefly tops out at 55kW and takes a lot longer than other cars with DC Fast charge capabilities. The other reason that you can’t select Level 3 on your app or car is because only level 1 and 2 are dictated by the onboard charger while the Level 3 charger is a stand-alone unit outside of the car.

    You are incorrect.
That bolt comes with “level 3 charging” DC fast charging.
The charging port is hidden behind the orange flap, visible when you open your Bolt’s charge door

I agree get to the point. and please don't give false info. Bolt ev can go much higher than 147miles. what you saw on dash is just max estimate based on the way you drove the car. Bolt EV range is about 247/250 miles.
none of the households have Level 3. that's only for commercial use. If you own a home (not apartment) where you have 240V line (the washer/dryer) type outlet then you can simply use the charger provided by GM. i'm assuming regular bolt Ev comes with Level 2 charger. my 2022 Bolt EUV did and now i'm charging my EUV in about 5 hours. the regular 110V outlet will take more than a day to fully charge.

What is the name of the app you downloaded to see the charging info?

Question: Do you have to use the smartphone app to do this and change charging options?

You can change from the car itself

Man get to the point, way to long of an explanation just to say switch it to 12 amps instead of 8 amps. Thank you tho for your effort.
