In itself, the mother is much too intrusive although very cute and caring.
And we don't talk about it much but Kotoko is also toxic towards Naoki. She falls in love with him and she imposes her feelings and her love for him to him. And when he makes her understand that it's not reciprocal she starts to cry and then starts to follow him everywhere and spy on him.
There is nothing that goes 😂 but it's crazy addictive

26:39 is such a good moment. Naoki can't express his own feelings. Even if he wanted to cry, he doesn't know how. So this little scene of basically the sky crying FOR him was so well done. Imagining how he felt in that moment, the girl he loves getting a proposal and not being able to do anything about it, really breaks my heart and the writers showed that perfectly.
I agree with you! It’s like, his world is finally beginning to crumble down seeing Kotoko moving on. Whereas, he’s not getting married for love-but he knows that Kin-Chan has loved Kotoko for so many years. To see another man love Kotoko in a way he cannot, is breaking his heart. From episodes 13 onward, you can see he’s feeling some type of way seeing Kotoko getting so distanced from him. She was always the one following him, now, her lack of presence in Naoki’s life leaves no color. Because even he said, she brought the chaos that life usually has into his realm.

It's beautiful and kinda sad, the fact I'm now understanding him more. He really loved Kotoko, she brought out these mew emotions and feelings he never expected to see. His love was really subtle, he didn't know how to handle them, what to do or how to express them.
I found out it's actually based on the deceased authors own lovestory, she always chaced her husband, he worked as an consultant for the JP drama and requested for them to make Irie more flawed, weak bc he was never the perfect guy and Kotoko more smart, kinder, prettier bc that's how he saw her. He never remarried and still calls himself her husband.

The crying scene is so beautiful. For the first time in his life Naoki, the guy who could do everything, solve every problem, experiences sadness and loss. In his head he thought the logical way was to forget Kotoko, somehow he'll end up falling for Sahoko whilst saving the company. He tried to convince himself that this is the right and most logcial way but wasn't aware that love has no logic and can't replaced. When he hears that Kotoko might marry Kinchan everything comes crushing down on him, the guilt he felt fated away and he finally understands who he's losing and how it feels to lose someone you love. He cries inside but doesn't know how so the Sky cries for him.

He previously confessed twice to Kotoko, was certain about his own feelings but needed time to figure things out as he deserves. This was the first time he's experiencing these things. You shouldn't forget that Kotoko is his own obsessive stalker that forced her feelings on him. He was minding his own business and own world, but due to her love spell he fell for her but unlike us normal humans he couldn't identify it properly (hence he needed time) and didn't want his mom to win. Once everything made sense, he planned a future with her (hence the kiss), then the fight and accident happened. Naoki felt guilty and responsible for the first time, tried convincing himself that he'll stop loving Kotoko to save the company, that for someone he'll logically fall for the perfect option but love has no logic. You can't just fall for someone regardless how suitable and after Kotoko's friends pestered him, he realised that. He's experiencing loss and what is feels like to loss someone for the first time but even then he doesn't know how to cry, so the Sky cries for him.

He’s still re-overthinking everything because the company is still in his hand and he knew it’ll be a problem for all of their family, but he still changed and chose kotoko. Even though his a genius, he grew up not being aware to his feelings, and doesn’t know how to show it, so having that big of a change means he’s a fine man. beside, love usually change ppl for the better or for worst. importantly they r grew, growing and will grow together as a married couple.

To me, this is the best version of ITAZURA Na Kiss. Psychology students should watch this to see if they could understand and analyze Naoki’s personality. Having a very high IQ is beyond normal. Usually people with high 1Q are eccentric and can become introverted.

This version is actually a love message from the authors husband to his deceased wife. He wanted show her that he's always been in love with her ever since she stared chasing him. That's why in this version we see Naoki softer, flawed and weaker since he was never the perfect guy his wife thought he was whilst he made Kotoko prettier, smarter and kinder bc that's how he saw her. Kotoko was always the best for him. So this version is actually Naoki's POV, it was the answer for the author who saw herself as Kotoko. She thought she wasn't bright and in love with the best guy on earth. Her husband never remarried or dated, gave up being a musician and still introduces himself as her husband after more than 22 years. It was true love
Even thought she seemed like the person who took the first step (chased him), he seemed to love her back the same way if not more.
One of the reasons he decided to be the producer/consultant of the JP drama was because of the credit roll showing his wife and his name together once again as he said, "after all these 20+ years, I still wish my name can be next to you. I just want to tell you in my own way, even if you aren't here anymore, the days when you were running after me, I also slowly fell for you".

people are really ignoring naoki's (autistic) pov, calling him redflag when he didn't even know how to cry despite wanting to and the sky crying for him instead. that's how pitiful he is. he doesn't work like we do, doesn't know feelings, emotions, love or when he goes too far and had accepted his dull, unchallenging life until kotoko came into his life. she chased (nicely worded) him, forced her love onto him and suddenly he's met with challenges and excitement he never experienced before. her love was like a curse and whilst she kept repeating it he slowly fell for her but couldn't figure out what that is since love has no logic. once he finally did and accepted that yes his mom will win, he confessed to Kotoko twice but each time "she's like that at important moments". she doesn't get it. he started treating her like his girlfriend bc only kotoko could make him feel this way and painted out their future together until his father ends up in hospita after their fight. The guilt overwhelmed him, he's told about the state of the company and picks the most logical choice in head. He throws away his dream, the future he had planned and his own feelings for Kotoko, thinking he can replace them. Even he told Kotoko to find a nice boyfriend but still ended up feeling jealous because that's not what his heart wanted. Naoki kept convincing himself that this is the right choice but once Kotoko's friends confront him everything crashes down on him. He fells loss for the first time, wants to cry but no tears are coming out bc he doesn't know to.
Yes I hope they can also see why naoki is like that. Naoki was under a lot of preasure. He thinks that if he accept kotoko, aside making his mother choice win, he also thinks that his feeling r probably just because of how ppl keep pushing him to Kotoko. But still, he chose kotoko as soon as he realized that what he felt was real and his own feelings( not bcuz of pressure) He even said sorry for being selfish even tho the company and getting married to the one he doesn’t love isn’t really his responsibility. Naoki might be mean, but he’s still a standard (everyone knows when they watched s2) although he’s still mean that because he got used to it and that where he became closer to kotoko, kotoko is the only person that can keep up with his real self. kotoko and irie wasn’t just enemy nor lover they were also best-friends ( in a unique way) hence naoki always tells Kotoko his feelings and secrets. Kotoko just have different perspective of showing love (she like it affectionate and sweet) that’s why he barely see naoki’s feelings for her. While naoki like to show it in a way where kotoko will grow and learn about life aside loving him and just be his wife. Although we all also understand why kotoko sometimes doubt him, it’s bcuz she waited too long and everyone around (except irie’s mom) her telling her that she wasn’t good enough for naoki and naoki keep telling her to have a confidence bcuz he chose her.
Ps: Also didn’t he say that the wedding and all the papers was already been set and planned? it just problems suddenly happened (so he did plan marrying her maybe he just waiting for the right time or just wanted to confirm his feelings first) but thinks suddenly occured.🥺

I love that it ended with a marriage but it would be so much better if we get to see Naoki propose to Kotoko by himself. Sometimes his mom needs to learn to respect her kids boundaries.
I love this episode because this is where Irie-kun realised how much he loves Kotoko that he can't imagine not having her in his life.
Also, that rain confession scene and when Irie found out about Kin-chan's proposal, heart-clenching scenes but those are my faves. Feels like straight out of a Wattpad story. LOL

This might be a wild guess, but I think whenever kotoko is seen in bright background, its a cinematic way on emphasizing her angelic beauty seen from naoki's eyes, not so sure if this make sense. For example like in this ep, when the wedding door opens and it focuses on kototo and then pans to naoki's reaction, stunned and in awe. Other example was in ep 2 when kotoko made morning coffee, naoki came to the kitchen and saw her and when she appeared on the screen, she was presented in a bright background making her angelic- like that's how she appeared in his eyes at that moment, gentle and pretty.
Also, ep 3 when the mom faked the grandma's injury, there was a shot when it's only focus on kotoko's face while she was talking, the background was also super bright as well and then the camera panned out, if you focus that moment on naoki, his eyes was blinking and was staring at her. So it makes it like these bright shots of kotoko are how Naoki sees her from his eyes. Those moments of kotoko are gentle and pretty and those are the times when Naoki already finds her pretty and falling for her appearance too.
Thank you for noticing that every detail, I also noticed that when Naoki stares at her... from his pov, Kotoko is like an angel, so gentle and firm 🥰

It's really lovely, I always repeat that part, because I think Yuki Furukawa really made Naoki looks like he was in shock because of Kotoko's cuteness and also, it's the exact time when he realized it was his own wedding and Kotoko was his bride. ♥️ Never gonna be tired of watching this dorama.

People telling Naoki is a red flag, does not love Kotoko, and whatnot when the guy literally made major life decisions based on what Kotoko advises him to. He went to college because of her, chose the same college as her so they could be together, decided to be a doctor because of her, and even decided to specialize in pediatrics (in season 2) also because of her.
Our guy literally didn't know how to handle feelings; since he was young, he was on top, he could do things easily, and everyone praised him and looked up to him, so everything was "easy." Still, when it comes to feelings and emotions, he is literally clueless, but if you watch properly the tiny hints here and there, you can see he is trying his best for her.
And during their married life, when he becomes hard on Kotoko, he is just trying to make Kotoko more independent and let her do her things on her own because he can't be with her all the time. Maybe it's his worry that if he's gone or something happens to him, Kotoko won't be able to move on, given that she literally made him her world; although he loves her and will be there for her, he still wants her to be independent.
Best version for me.. for the 1st part the girl shows more affection but for the 2nd part I love how noaki progress as human and husband.. plus the fact he gives more justice to his role.. I think he is custom made for this..
The chemistry of the casts especially of these two. I always find their height difference so ideal. Honoka Miki, well I think it's Yahagi now, gave justice to Kotoko's character as being so similar with the manga while Yuki Furukawa's smiles here as Naoki were so precious. I still cannot get over with his voice when he speaks in English.

I didn't like him as a kid but now I do, I don't think he is a badguy or redflag just flawed. This is like a kid experiencing knew things for the first time, they are confused, they don't know how to handle these new emotions and feelings. They might lash out. Thanks to Kotoko he's slowly experiencing these new emotions and feelings he would've never otherwise. He found his dream and the future he wants to have and learning.

Felt threatened after hearing that Kin-chan proposed to Kotoko and that she might have gone accept it. He immediately went to get Kotoko even though he already found her on the street, asks questions to confirm that Kin-chan proposed, he confessed his feelings and lastly after Naoki's confession he immediately notified the family that he wants to marry her. Aww, nothing can be as much possessive as him now that he confessed his feelings.
After repeatedly watching this drama, it's still one of the top confessions for me.
Really really love this drama... Best couple.. Best family... And the story is so refreshing without too much tragedy.. Never get bored watching this over and over again... And the season 2 is much better than season 1...more laughing but more tears too.. I really love the way Naoki hugs kotoko... Or the way he looks at her.. I love this drama and I keep watching it because, there’s so much emotion portrayed by both actors. Actually mostly everyone. When Naoki cries, it’s like, his world is finally beginning to crumble down seeing Kotoko moving on. He never expected her to be proposed by. He trusted that she would never leave his side, but as they’re now distanced-he realized he knew nothing about her lately. Whereas, he’s not getting married for love-but he knows that Kin-Chan has loved Kotoko for so many years. To see another man love Kotoko in a way he cannot, is shattering his heart. From episodes 13 onward, you can see he’s feeling some type of way seeing Kotoko getting so distanced from him. She was always the one following him. Now, her lack of presence in Naoki’s life leaves no color. Because even he said, she brought the chaos that life usually has into his realm.
I would agree to that with out Kotoko his life is very different... Though he love her he cannot express it. Then to the point that he didnt realize such things when he decided to marry Sahoko san. When that time Kotoko 's friend tell him everything that moment he was thinking what if I maybe late and she will be gone

I honestly think that Naoki really planned for the marriage. He agreed for the arranged marriaged to happen in order to save the company, knoticed on the bridge scene when Naoki said those mean things to Kotoko and Kin-chan, I believe it was planned to show Sahoko how he really acted, he acted that cold, arrogant guy that he is in front of her knowing that she will cancel the marriage. He doesnt even want to marry Sahoko in the first place, he cant call the marriage off himself since that will give away the help that Sahoko's grandfather did to the company. I sometimes love and hate the fact that he's a genius :') Also I love the rain scene

Do y'all realize that at @45:06 of episode 12 when Naoki said "I think it means that there are many ways to get to one destination. It seemed like you were making a detour, but you might find something important." Is perhaps the summary of this drama's intro? (when Kotoko was running around the city looking for Irie) It seemed like they were taking different paths at first, but still ended up being together no matter how long it took for them to find each other.

TikTok made me rewatch this. Re-watched it after 8 years made me notice a lot more about Irie's side glances and facial expressions which is his way of showing his feelings
Honoko has justified her impressive character with such simplicity and innocence.The Drama is interesting ( I am non Japanese ) It is felt as if it is our own language. Yamada and Hanoka two other friends have a lovely role which makes the drama more interesting.I learn few Japanese words watching this first drama.
One of the problems about Naoki is that his IQ is so high that there was almost nothing left for his EQ. He knew he loves Kotoko even then but like what Sahoko-san said, he doesn’t know his own feelings - he had to find out first about Kin-chan proposing to Kotoko before he acted upon his real feelings but anyway, the story would have been cut in the middle if he had realised his feelings earlier so 😅
Have watched this a thousand times but I can never get enough and even tho I feel bad for Kin-chan, I still am rooting for Naoki and Kotoko. Always.

yeah I love this drama, but when she kept stalking his dates I was like wtf.....? and same with when Kin-chan recorded Kotoko's conversations, so weird. at the end of the day all characters are flawed and none are saints.
Kinnchan is truly S tier. He's kind, caring and would do anything for his friends, kinda desperate but he can work on that. He's not right for kotoko, but he's right for Christine
