    Killer Harmonics !!! Love your sound man !!! I had a Satriani Signature for a while but even though it's a JVM 410HJS it's very different in some ways. My skill level is not deserving of expensive gear like these amps but playing through these beasts is a rush. Keep Rocking !!!

    Hi Shawn, blown away by this video. Sound and playing are stellar. I am think of getting one of these heads and would like your help? I appreciate that speakers, guitars, fingers e.t.c. all contribute towards the sound but have the mods you made had a significant impact on tone? Did it sound as good as this before the mods and did you previously back the gain off and (presumably) gain the channel volume? Any help much appreciated. Thanks.

    • @DSTaylor69
      @DSTaylor69  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      alastair wilson thanks. First the JVM is awesome right out of the box. Very versatile amp. As far as mods yes they make a difference. I always suggest to everyone start with a chock install that really quietens the amp down as far as high gain hiss etc. then try a mod at a time till you’re satisfied with it.

      Charley Cain most of my jvm vids tell the mods. I use daddario .010’s. Picks Dunlop tortex yellow sharps or whatever happens to be laying around. Low action. Mods are as follows. Plexi mod, 3h choke, Mercury magnetics output transformer, negative feedback mod.
      Effects a tc electronics g major. With delay on a slap back somewhere around 200ms. Chorus. No pedals. Cab has 2 vintage 30’s and 2 G12t 75’s. Pickups Gibson 500t & 496r. The most important thing my hands. Tone is in the fingers.
      You can go to the Marshall JVM forum and read about the mods. Hope that helps.

    Shawn, Check out the Friedman BE-100, BE-50 Deluxe, and the Metropolous Metroplex. I think you would like any of the 3 better than that JVM. Dave Friedman is a genius when it comes to Modded Marshalls. George Metropolous is a genius when it comes to Marshall Plexi Amps. If you take the time to check out those 3 amps....I assure You, That You Won't Regret It. All three are in the $3500-4000 range. Not cheap at all, but they are handbuilt, handwired, custom transformers, custom every thing, with Lifetime Warranties. Once a person owns one of those three, they rarely look at other amps, or want to purchase another amp again. Big Lifetime, Amazing Quality Investments. Also, you might wanna check out 4×12 speaker cabinets with the speaker configuration of 2 greenbacks on top, and 2 vintage 30's on the bottom. Amazing tones. Bogner sells a cabinet like that, and Friedman has quite a few cabinet with that same setup. Have a good one. Love your playing! 😎😎

      carolina horning How about where is the brown sound cause that ain't it at all, that is oversaturated noise.

      Jerry Robitaille It's kind of like if you took the mid honk of the classic VH sound and added a bit of the tighter bottom end and saturation from his newer tones. I'd honestly attribute some of the scratchiness and noisy artifacts with mic placement or maybe some overload or clipping.

      The "Brown sound" was really Eddie using a variac to lower the input voltage to his amps causing the tubes to distort earlier and in a different sounding way. The name comes from "brown out" when the voltage supplied to your house drops for example.

      That's not where the name comes from.

    Swawn I just bought a jvm 410 and tried 2 times with marshall 1922 cab, overall i liked it jvm but I felt a lack of bass , except on clean channel. for me to be satisfied I put almost all the bass knob on max, almost 0 presence and ressonance on max, is this normal? kkk

      The cab your using could have a lot to do with it.

      Gary Hundsrucker you've barely heard of a Gibson explorer? That's the guitar I'm playing. And that's the case for it.

    Try turning your guitar volume down to soften the tone some and less gain. Yuck. Earbleed.

    • @DSTaylor69
      @DSTaylor69  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jerry Robitaille guitar volume was turned down. Gain was only on 8/9 o’clock

    • @DSTaylor69
      @DSTaylor69  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jerry Robitaille I’ll def consider it. Thanks

      Shawn Taylor I like your heavy sound, it's just a bit over the top for Halen and ACDC type of stuff. I have rediscovered the clarity of a heavier edgy sound from the amp and then turn down the guitar pickup volume to mellow the input signal to the amp and then you can get the intro to Drop Dead Legs nice and chimey then wack the volume up on the guitar some for the attack riff. Try it out, the dynamics are wicked.

      Shawn Taylor I sometimes set the amp for stun and then put guitar volume at like 3 or 4. Eddie liked his amp to do all the work and use weaker pickup volume and you hear the strings more.
