The problem in Africa is the west, simple and straightforward. How do you reconcile a continent so rich in mineral resources getting mined by western companies and becoming lubricant to western economies yet the those African countries providing these resources are the poorest. There is complete economic disparity between the providers of wealth and users of wealth. For as long as African leaders refuse to act in the interest of their population snd choose to be working for foreign powers, I am afraid coups are here to stay.
While I don't absolve the West, I think the bigger problem is we Africans from whom our leaders come. We must begin form strong institutions that check and regulate governance and defend it at all cost or else, we will be stuck in this cycle of coups.
