Thank you for your feedback on the PXW-X70, it's still annoying the problems encountered. I have exactly the Z6 and the PXW-X70 also for the latter I didn't upgrade to 4K but I can't find a key online anymore only at Sony which still asks 600€ to switch to 4K it's huge, they could provide it cheaper
Hi, Regarding your comment on loosing the image in 4k on external monitor there is a setting in the video out menue to select either the lcd or external monitor.
Honestly I really only use 4k when I plan to zoom crop in and out from a wide shot... Full HD with a good camera is still great and the file sizes are much easier to work with...
Thank you. Helpful info. Based on where most video is viewed I think 4k is a bit overhyped. 4k is a great tool if you need to crop, zoom or pan in post.
Un saludo amigo necesito una información, tengo esta cámara pero no he logrado comprar el software para ampliar a 4 K podria informarme donde consigo la actualización gracias.
So how much more is the upgrade to 4K? Currently on B&H both the PXW X70 and the AX700 is $1798. Would be interested to see your comparison on the two. Recently went with the AX700 over the NX800 mainly because of the price difference and I already have my own sound recorder, settled without the handle and other minor differences - but you’ve already did a comparison on those two. Thanks for your reviews! 👌
Yes, the Z90 is an excellent camcorder EXCEPT if you are panning with it as the juddering effect is terrible in 4K. Autofocus is brilliant & colour is great. You still can't use the external monitor from HDMI in 4K record mode though.
I too have this small handy camera in my personal collection, which am very happy with and use it for capturing talent positioning & blocking, and also background documentary footage inbetween main filming. It does 4:2:2 @ 10 Bit 50MB/s datastream (XAVC) when in HD 1080P. However it switches down to 4:2:0 @ 8 Bit (XAVC) user switchable 60 or 100 MB/s datastream when in 4K mode. Personally with good lighting, I always leave its settings fixed to 4:2:2 @ 10Bit HD 1080P, as the quality of its picture detail is perfect for whatever I need to use this small handy camera for. Hope that helps you.
Watching in 1080 on an 18" monitor, the only difference between 4k and HD is the colours. Your face and the rest of the scene in 4k is washed out. Without a big investment in peripherals, 4k is extremely data hungry for the casual filmmaker, and not discernible on the formats most people view on - I say that as a 4k camera owner. Look at the new 6k Panasonic S1H for a data eating monster.

Very interesting. Please compare against ax700 and nx80.

I meant the Z90 not the NX800 although the 3 cameras are very similar.
If you like the X70 you will love the newer Z90.

Noticed the same thing. The green tint gets even more noticeable.
