  • We enter a mansion, talk to the BEST CHARACTER IN THE GAME, meet with a Cthulhu ferryman, enter the City of Forms, trip balls, confront the antagonist and defeat him. And so, our journey comes to an end.

The ending becomes a lot funnier if you've ever played an RPGmaker game which only uses the default sprites/graphics.

This ending was great because he was totally right. Phillip destroyed the world's character and seeing it transform into a generically bland JRPG is both funny and poetic. When MOON says that it is "better to reign in hell" he's basically just saying it's better to be shit and unique than bland and unoriginal.

Cxero Annuki i mean hey transforming into a generic rpg is better than what the world was before

That may be the game's message, but analyzing the antagonist's actions from an ethical point of view he pretty much fucked up everyone's life for the sake of his own art. Geez, Leg Horse even killed his own brother accidentally because of all the confusion.

that is arguably the most satisfying ending to an rpg maker game I've ever seen o-o

lol its satisfying in the way that its NOT satisfying, going back to a boring normal tileset. MOON was right....

It was supposed to symbolize the typical RPG game and it's pointless ending. It was making fun of them, as the ending quite proved.

See. I understand the idea of this being a reflection on the blandness and lack of character of a traditional rpg. But i think thats bullshit. The characters where clearly happy with the state of the world in the end, no longer having to suffer under Moons rule. The world when under his control was a vibrant and creative place but it was also a nightmarish hell society of suffering and hatred. Phillip spends the whole game crying up until now. Moon may have been correct about the nature of art and creativity and all that but he was still the villain. He was the villain because he forced his view of how the world should be on others. One should look to cteate good art but it means nothing at the expense of others. (Though that oulook may also be challenged as is the nature of art) there was still traces of the old world with that head in the forest. They didn't sacrifice individuality for safety they got rid of a bad influence to start anew. Hence the stock graphics. (Ok thats where the interpretation ends and the moralizing begins so jump off now if you arent a fan of that) Yall gotta start being slower on the "Villain was right all along" button. It seems people refuse to think about WHY a character is the villain and thats not just juvenile, pseudointellectual posturing horsefuck; it is also potentially dangerous. Remember how everyone thought Joker was gonna cause violence? Its because there are crazy weirdos who didn't think about that.

@@CerealKiller I don't even remember this comment but it sure seems you didint heed the warning it gave before the prosthelatizing. I have, however, discussed similar things since this comment and refined my thoughts, allow me to elaborate. The reson I brought up joker was because the time before that film was the hig of non ironic "we live in a society" shit. People were relating to the joker and chocked thier inane issues (can't get a chick, can't get respect on reddit, etc) up to a problem with the world and thought the terrorist who actively admitted to lying about his motives was a great model to build a world around. This was only a few years after Elliot Roger's mass shooting over not getting women and the Aurora theatre shootings during the previous batman movie. Thankfully it didint turn out badly and in fact the Joker movie turned it all into a meme, but there was precedent for people to be worried about what it may inspire people to do, the prediction was wrong but theres a reason it existed. When I commented that, we were at the peek of or the direct aftermath of a major social movement surrounding a villain. It was the best example I could use. But the thing is that this was just the biggest of many villain defenses happening all over. "Griffif did nothing wrong" "Kilmonger was right" and so on and so on. Any ounce of grey area was stretched to justify anyone for anything. And now here's Moon. Someone who got exactly what those redditors wanted. A perfect little world based entirely on thier whims. Forcing others to suffer under thier view of the world. But what did people think when shown the effects of what they were on about at the time? "Oh man moon was really right. The real world was so lifeless he did the riiiiiiight thing. He was riiiiiigh allllll along." It is annoying to watch a direct denouncement of that thinking be twisted into an endorsement. I brought up the joker because it was a directly relevant social event that was evocative of the conversations about Space funeral that I was commentating on. Took way more than 2 seconds of thought. The only thing I regret about this comment is its antagonism. But I stand by its discoursive content completely.
