- Part of an informational video released during the 1980's starring Short Circuit robot Johnny 5.
After Johnny 5's truck gets stolen, he learns about what motivates car thieves, how they operate, and how he can protect himself from them.
Don't ask me why Johnny 5 has a truck.
This is like.. I don't know.. the Star Wars Holiday Special, but for Johnny Five... awesome to see though, I just... oh dear.
Apparently Johnny 5 never really recovered from the massive head injuries he got when they bludgeoned him in the second film.
I wish their were more scenes and shows like Johny 5
Im just seeing this for the first time and i must say even though i miss johnny five its kind if painful to watch this as an adult i wish i saw this as a youngster lol
its because it's fucking awful thats why it's painful, the robot is still awesome though, it's just badly puppetted with fucking awful dialogue
Yes, I have to agree 06:13 is absolutely hilarious. And I love how the cop plays it off like nothing ever happened. Pink Slit, lol.
"Anything will do as long as it runs"
SWEET! My car is safe!
@ 1:46 "Written by Steve Erkel" this explains everything.
I love how when Johnny's truck gets stolen, baby music plays...but when all the other citizens cars get broken into, more dramatic music plays. LOL
Ive been trying to see this video for 17 years! thanks!
Why isn't he gold plated? Remember he was gold plated at the end of SC2.
This video proves how amazing those talented puppeteers were on the feature films... because Number Five just looks dead here!
But Johnny-five was repaired out of gold in the end of the second movie and that's when became a US citizen.
@XrossFire89 He actually hijacked two trucks in the movie. Stephanie's truck and a nova truck. Though technically, he only hotwired the first, since the second one already had the keys in the ignition.
11:00 LOL at that customer's reaction of the conversion between the waitress and Johnny 5. XD
I have been looking for this for years. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Boy, Johnny Five really hit the skids after Short Circuit 2. I hear he tried to get a job on the Star Wars prequels, but he showed up drunk to the screen test.
Without Tim Blaney's voice, this just doesn't work.
Why does johnny 5 have a truck?
I did this from the description lol
Thanks you so much for posting this! i miss JOHNNY FIVE So much!!
Holy cow! Didn't know this existed!
This was made in 1990, and was the last ever appearance of Johnny 5 on TV or film.
i cant imagine why.
@@eddjordan2399 In retrospect, using Johnny 5 for this role was kinda odd. The video is about stolen cars and how to report them and how it affects you. Using a robot character from a duology of sci-fi comedy films (well the first one is sci-fi, the 2nd is a heist film) for this to appeal to adults and an adult topic is off.
The budget would have been better spent on making a Saturday morning cartoon pilot for the Short Circuit cartoon show and see if they can turn him into a one-season wonder like Teen Wolf and plenty of other 80s cartoons were.
You can still use the "slim jim" tool on not too old cars. I locked my keys in my 1995 Pontiac Bonneville at school one time and the janitor was able to get it open and get them out.
One of the greatest smaller-film bots of all history!
LOL at 6:15.
"OFFICER DAVE!! Isn't that a bit personal?!"
I dub this film, 'Short Circuit 2 1/2'
This is wholesome!
and now we know more about how to steal a car, and the easy money too!
Johnny 5 is not supposed to play back recorded voices of other people, especially women. That is just freaky. His TV and movie quotes were always clearly done in his same voice mimicking the other characters' accents.
Remember his first scene in "Short Circuit 2" when he was reading that letter to Ben? He read it out-loud in Stephanie's (Ally Sheedy's) voice.
I like this please make more
who exactly is this aimed at? kids don't have cars.....
As Johnny himself would put it:
"Eeeeghhhh..."
Contrary to the description, this was released in 1990. It shows, as it's just oozing with early-90s cheese. Atop that, the voice actor coupled with Johnny's clearly... Under-budgeted movement and over exaggerated reactions are just... Painful.
That's a very good point you got there.
Was it released on 📀 and streaming
Was this shown in schools or something?
Johnny's voice seems...different
maybe he got a truck after the movie, 30 mph is fine for most cases but when u want to really get somewhere u need a real vehicle
Must have thought he said pink slit!
He should have gone back to Montana with Ally Sheedy, I would have.
Just slightly cheesy and while Johnny 5's voice isn't perfect here, it's close enough to fool the casual observer. Still, a good lesson about car theft that can apply to even today. My opinion, at least.
"Burgularize" How very American. This is so weird, I feel strange.
also yeah, Johnny 5 spends most of Short Circuit nicking cars, he's hardly the best figure to front this campaign.
Short circuit 2 he broke into maybe a dozen cars and stole the stereo's out of them but he only dismantled one car and stole a truck. Why he wanted a truck, to save the charge on his batteries, he can also use the truck to recharge his batteries. He should get a solar charging station for his place.
Ok i don't know where to begin with this. I wanted to watch this for the longest time because i love both movies and johnny 5 is the shit. Let me just say my eyes widen with massive excitement when i saw this on the side. Having watched both parts of this i was just disappointed. Tim blaney didn't reprise the role is the 1st beef i had with this 2 parter, and rightfully so. If he read this garbage good for him turning it down, if this takes place after the 2nd film why is he silver and not gold?
Ha the plate says '' alive''.
What happened to him being gold??
where is his golden C-3PO plating?
This is worse than the Turtle Christmas special and Star Wars holiday special combined.
Johnny Five what did they do to you :'(
Officer Dave!!
this is kinda funny
@ediskrad327 He got tired of being compared to C3PO and shifted back to his plain chrome.
This is basically sesame street but corrupted and cheesy
wtf, he's supposed to be gold! but like that's the worst part of this horrible video. I get that they wanted to do a psa but man this is just sad.. poor Johnny 5 must've needed the money lol.
Holy Shit I was thinking the same Thing!!
though his EYES have Gold Rings..
i like the idea but they did it so badly
any car can be hotwired...dont be dumb
Good but cheesy
How does he even drive??
Uhh he uhhh.... uhhh.. .. .. magic?
watch the short circuit films
That's not Tim Blaney! God this is embarassing! Still kinda cute I guess, but so obselete! New cars can't BE hotwired.
OMG so cheesy lol
Short Circuit Johnny Five 5 Number Robot Movie Classic Fo 2019 Universe Studios Hollywood Go Come Time Have Walk Day Go?
Cringeworthy puts its lightly. I’m embarrassed for J5 and his legacy. Glad it isn’t well known by anyone other than fans. Eeep.
I SHOULD be hitting dislike, Where is TIm Blaney!
This is horrible
What a government indoctrination video. Ownership of vehicles looks totally benevolent until you look at who controls the title and what regis means. To extract money from unsuspecting owners every year one must register, have license plates, pay a fee, get the car smogged. Cartels and rackets of a fascist kakistocracy and this is simply a cutely designed commercial for it.
