@@joju4072 You see ,there is a difference between something hand made and what comes out of a machine by the mile and someone just solders a clasp on the end .You want all this consumer crap fashion jewelry that comes out of a machine like spaghetti ,no more than 10% above spot prices .you want something custom ,hand made ,that's another story ,Casting is not much different ,once you make a mold ,you are off to the races and can cast thousands of pieces over and over again .the price per unit comes down .It's still hard works and dangerous work as well

The rarity of a metal is best expressed as its ‘mass fraction’, or how many kg can be expected to be found per billion kg of crust material. Of course, they are not evenly distributed or mining would be impossible, but the number is still useful.
Gold - 4 parts per billion
Silver - 75 parts per billion
Platinum - 5 parts per billion
Osmium - 1.5 parts per billion
Other Platinum group metals - 1 part per billion or less
As the earth’s crust is estimated to mass around 2.6 * 1022 kg, it means that there is around 400 billion kg of gold throughout the entire crust. Much of it will never really be accessible, of course, but there really is quite a bit out there.

There’s a step missing. I want to know how they get the gold from 90% pure to 99.999% that makes the coins themselves. The part you showed is just the mechanical stamping process.
It's a lot of chemical refining and flux useage to remove the other impurity which is normally sulfur and other elements in the same group using Chloride to turn them into element chloride. and as gold reacts with nothing. it's left alone.
Edit: you can see some of the presource during the african gold refinery
they were doing some cupelling in the African refinery, when he pulled that little red hot cupel from the furnace that was likely a 90% gold alloy cupelled to 99.9% purity, before hand they can use chemicals like nitric acid and muriatic acid to make aqua regia, and then the gold needs to be precipitated out with sodium matabisulfate. Or they can use sulfers and other things and borax when smelting the gold ore.

The way that it’s refined from 90% to 99.99 etc. is the same for all metals essentially finding their melting point and then removing the top layer known as slag. The slag is the impurities and they float to the top while the denser metal settles to the bottom.

I melted down gold from old electronics, games, computers tvs, amps, stereos etc for 2 years and my dad would wheel and deal on cars he would cut the catalac converters out then put a straight pipe on and altogether made 43,000 in just 2 years.

If that's what you want to call "refining".... sure, be my guest. But I do it for a living and I would argue otherwise. You want to see refining, check out some of my vids... you'll see the difference.
