In this lecture/discussion session from my Fall 2013 Introduction to Philosophy class at Marist College, we examine some of Thomas Aquinas' discussions about Love, focusing specifically on questions 20 and 60 from the First Part of his Summa Theologiae.
The articles of question 20 discuss Love and God, but also engage in a lot of discussion of how love works for human beings. In order to make sense of Thomas' discussions, we have to delve a bit into (an admittedly oversimplified) Thomistic anthropology, i.e. philosophy of human nature.
The articles of question 60 likewise focus on angels and Love, but also tell us quite a bit about Thomas' views on human love as well.
