I like how the channel has reinvented itself. Very informative to fashion students, or fashion fans like me who might have already read a lot about the history of fashion but have had limited access to video representations of specific fashion eras and legendary designers and their creative catalogue. This channel deserves more viewing and subscribers (as opposed to the unintelligible and silly mumbling of a huge number of "fashion" vloggers) on social media.

I love 20s as well! It really seems like the first time in history when women were enjoying themselves instead of only pleasing everyone around them. Flapper look is rather extreme and has this strong connection to jazz. It was the first subculture, wasn't it? The earlier equivalent of punk in a way. Great period. My mother worked at the department store when she was in high school 1952-1956. I'm the family curator/archivist and have family clothing items from the 1910s to the 1990s (including my personal 1980s men's new wave clothing). Thank you for the video.

god i love this channel! i noticed the lapel mic too, it’s a great addition, it improves the quality so much! 20’s are probably my favourite era behind 80s and 60s but i loved seeing that shift dress, i’d love a whole decade deep dive series if you ever run out of ideas or need content suggestions!
Wow, this is an incredible mini masterclass on 1920s fashion! That toile print dress is incredible, definitely easy to mistake for 60s with that silhouette. Toile style print is definitely back in - seeing it quite a bit on summer dresses at the moment. There were many pieces in this pull that would fit right in if worn today. Evey piece you show, I think to myself 'that piece is incredible, the best of the lot' and then I say it again with the next piece and the next. You are a curator and custodian of important pieces of history. Thank you for these videos.
Doris, 1920’s are definitely one of my favorite fashion/design periods because of the bead work and Art Deco designs. We had several 20’s beaded dresses in our costume shop. The beadwork was amazing. A lot of the silk backing was shredded from being hung and some of the metal beads were corroded, but the craftsmanship was always off the walls. I’m curious how you dated the 2 bias dresses to late 20’s. I would have placed the silhouette firmly in the 30s. I’m excited to explore fashions with you in this TH-cam series. I haven’t been fully emersed in historical clothing in many years so I’m pretty rusty. I agree with you that we may be looking at another cataclysm fashion change. I keep thinking about the set and costume designs for the Handmaid’s Tale. Amazing collection. Linda

the lingerie dress reminds me of Lady Edith's wedding dress to Bertie in Downton Abbey. The costume designer said she found it in a vintage shop and found lace that was similar to lengthen it to make it floor length and she did not line the added piece to the dress to leave it more see through, it almost felt opaque. I loved what they did for Lady Edith's wedding gown.
Now I am wondering if that was also a lingerie dress the costume designer made a liner/slip for and then added a lace flounce at the bottom of the liner/slip.

Late 20s/1930s are truly my favorite. Watching the 30s movies I'm always amazed by the sleek, sharp, modern style. The clothes are timeless. As well as the furnishings. I think you should do a coffee table book of your collection/store. Just a oversized coffee table book, with the bold black and white strips like the storefront.
It was interesting what you said about things in society today may greatly influence fashion. I wonder what they will come up with. Also everything old is new again. I saw an old video of Duran Duran the other day and their outfits in the 80s or Prince's for sure almost could have fit in during time period of the American Revolution with the frilly white shirts and jackets. Personally, when I saw the small vignettes on the LA Frock Stars season, I thought "Wow, now this woman really understands the creative process." You spoke at one point of hoping to see the designers interpretation of some pattern in clothing in a year or so. I'd like to see that too!

I don't know if you have ever seen the Deco Japan art exhibition from Ringling Museum. We had it at the art museum I worked for a few years ago. It is very clear in my opinion how there was such crossover between the West and East at this time period. You can really see it in the art and fashion. Really good to see you in the new videos.

I second "dinh" in coveting episodes about, and in your Inspiration Room! Personally, when I saw the small vignettes on the LA Frock Stars season, I thought "Wow, now this woman really understands the creative process." You spoke at one point of hoping to see the designers interpretation of some pattern in clothing in a year or so. I'd like to see that too!

I am spending my free time cleaning up the chaos from several dozen design appointments. Once I get it to a point where it is camera ready (and not an embarrassment), I will do several episodes in the inspiration room. I am moving as fast as I can so thanks for the suggestion and within a couple of months I will surprise you!
As far as showing what a designer bought and how it gets translated- unfortunately that’s not possible. That’s confidential info and we don’t want to do anything that would alienate our clients. If you ever find yourself in LA, I would be happy to show you some really obvious examples in person - 2 of which happened just this past week at PARIS Fashion Week! Let me know if you are coming to Los Angeles.

Why not start your own museum near your store. Pay for admission. That way those things in boxes and drawers would be loved and enjoyed by all! You could have a taped narration like they have at LACMA. I mean that's what we'd all love! Love this era too and love the white lingerie dress!
I don't know if you have ever seen the Deco Japan art exhibition from Ringling Museum. We had it at the art museum I worked for a few years ago. It is very clear in my opinion how there was such crossover between the West and East at this time period. You can really see it in the art and fashion. Really good to see you in the new videos.
Kayleigh Vaughn Hi Kayleigh! I did not see that exhibition and wish that I did. Do you know if a catalogue was published for that? I totally agree with you and we saw other cultures blatantly impact fashion. Egyptian revival, chinoiserie, etc. Thanks for the dialogue!
