« Just a little video » as usual a wonderful generous work of love you have given us again. Thanks Mika! Finished my PPLH training on CabriG2 today in Tallard France. Signed up for flight test in early January. Hope hope!!
A&P w/IA here. If you think it will take X number of hours, then multiply by 5 to get in the ballpark. Unexpected parts needed can really exagerate that. Enjoyed the video!
Congratulations on the technical knowledge in a short time and all good, you are really ahead with the times and the technical notions and logistical organization I always follow you, a greeting from Italy and the Dolomites ...
Wait...did you guys just swapped engines?? Like replace with a new engine??? Or just change a few parts from the current engine?? How often do you need to do this???
For some reason I can't locate one gentleman's question as to the full operations of the tail rotor! I believe he was inquiring concerning the d-3 Hinge(Delta 3 Hinge} Are you still here?
no harm , but all this high five ing makes it look like they have never done the job before , id be starting to worry about 4:20 ,,, so did you swap out the engine and boxes , or take them apart and swap out bearings etc , please excuse my ignorance on such things , it looks like it was expensive either way.
@@viktors5800 I actually just watched the video again , they look like a bunch of kids high on Haribo fitting wheels to skateboards ,,, and for that reason alone ,,, Im out.
I must say that your statement of a Robinson overhaul taking up to 6 months is debatable. Yes a Robinson in-house factory overhaul can take up to 6 months depending on their workload. However it is important to note that an RHC factory OH is a complete tear down of the entire helicopter much like a classic car restoration. Before the COVID-19 crisis Robinson was working on lessening the in-house OH lead times and actually hitting the 5 month mark. An R44 Raven II overhaul performed in the field by an authorized service center, which BC Heli is quite familiar with, averages around 240 man hours. These estimated hours can fluctuate depending on the teams experience of the unit in question. The point is that every helicopter has it’s challenges but eventually the mechanics gain the experience and knowledge to comply with the scheduled maintenance requirements well within the estimated timeframe in a safe and timely manner. So the statement of a G2 overhaul taking 4 days is a long shot but in the hands of a well experienced team may be possible. Well lets give them a buffer of a few more days, just in case. Much props to the BC Team for the video. Keep up the good work and always remember to double & triple check your work!
Cool. I missed these videos. Love the clock. Creative. I keep hearing that the 2200 is half as much for a cabri then a Robinson...is it true? What’s the actual cost if you don’t mind since you have both? I’m almost caught up on three years worth of videos. And I never miss a new one.
Pilot Yellow thank you. I appreciate the response. I guess I figured the r 44 and 22 might be kind of close. I love this channel. It’s one of the first channels I started watching after I add the decision to get my license. And the only one I make sure to watch ever episode of. My favorites are the instructional. The check ride video was helpful...etc. what you do for you students. Is a great thing and you should all be proud.
That is scary. I'd be too worried about forgetting to screw up that one bolt that might hold something important on....Hey Guys, not sure how to tell you this but you know what I forgot to do ? I see, so Mischa has just taken it out ? What sort of insurance cover do we have ?
You can do basic tasks like cleaning and lending a hand to the engineer if it's overseen by the engineer. Lot's of ground crew pilots help out the engineers in the shop with basic tasks like that.
It seems utterly astonishing that the replacement of an extremely unsophisticated and elderly engine and the main and tail gearboxes of a light, two place utility helicopter should cost around $140,000!
Welcome to aviation. Most of 2200 hours accumulated are revenue hrs at $540/hr, so you do the math. Maintenance is a crucial component of a well operated company and its just a cost of doing business.
@@mirzakamenjas6089 I'm confused. From what I've seen most helicopter pilot training costs between $150 and $250 an hour. Where does the $540/hr come from?
That's helicopter parts always expensive have to be made light weight but strong at the same time all materials have to be given a air worthy certificate which costs to via the helicopter manufacturers,👍
Hummm in America you need a Manufactures service manual if your working on the aircraft...didn't see that, the engine mounts require NDI, as parts removed they need to be Green, or yellow tagged with PN/Data on the tag, every part removed must be tagged. I sure hope your not a Commercial Operator ... I was always told Canada had a excellent Maintenance system ... seems to have detonated over the years.
Early on in the video, as the Engineer was working on the Fenestron, the Manufacturer's Service Manual was on his immediate workbench, opened at the exact page for the task in hand. Experienced, Professional Engineers carried out the work to the specifications and standards required by the Aircraft Manufacturer and the Canadian Regulatory Authority. This is hardly Rocket Surgery!
@@felixcat9318 Agreed...what wasn't shown on the video is the paper work that must be done...log entries per manufacturers specifications, replacement part numbers, serial numbers, tolerance measurements etc. all dated, counter signed and double checked. Then a test evaluation flight and more post flight checks...Then certificate of airworthiness is issued. There's a heap more too numerous to go into here.
Originally I posted that the overhaul cost around $140K Candian dollars. However something I wasn't thinking about when I posted it is that you get a core return on the two gearboxes. So this brings the overhaul down nearly $40K. So the upfront cost would be around $140K but when it all comes out in the wash it's more like $100K CAD. Hope that helps clarify.
@@PilotYellow Thanks for sharing the cost. I had the same question. I assume that there are other time limited components that have to be addressed in the future, so the 140K is not a direct comparison to the Robinson rebuild, but good point about limited downtime and time limited components vs. calendar limited components. I really appreciate your videos and sharing what you do.
Skyforce 213 when a certain part of the aircraft reaches certain hours. In this case 2200 hours it needs to either be replaced or overhauled. In this case the engine and main and tail rotor gearboxes need to be overhauled.
I saw a still shot of someone standing on the top of a small ladder and making a maximum reach. Falls from ladders are the #1 workplace accident. Never stand on the top of a ladder. Get a taller ladder.
Love these type of video's almost as much as the mountain and river flying videos. Keep them comming when you can.

Very informative Mischa. Great job! Just flew my second hour on the Cabri December 5 2019:)

First and foremost great content,PERSONALLY I barely can fly a toy helicopter. HATS OFF TO YOU AND YOUR COMPANIONS..THANKS FOR THE VIDS OVIEDO FL..
I saw a schweizer 300 are you guys going to use them again?
Was the engine replaced or taken out for service, if replaced does the old one go back to manufacturer lots of things not explained in full
pro tip : you can watch series on Flixzone. Been using it for watching a lot of movies lately.

How much does is cost after 2200 hours to replace
Excellent video Brother
mischa are you a certified airctsft mechanic
You can do your own maintenance? Or do you have to be certified ?
Love the clock!
why is the green position light on the left side?
truly amazing work !!!!
How does it feel on the first flight after you've done all that work?!
Ryan Heath it felt perfect. No change.
How much does it cost for all the replacement?
This is a little off topic but what's your thoughts on Rotorway 162F are they worth repairing?
@Pilot Yellow how does the overhaul cost compare to a R44 Raven or Cadet?
I love your video
Curious about what the approximate cost is?
Wait...did you guys just swapped engines?? Like replace with a new engine??? Or just change a few parts from the current engine?? How often do you need to do this???
Title says 2200 hours...complete engine and trans swap
Love all the video's :) Wondering when you do another 2200 hr overall, if an engine QEC would reduce the 15 day turn significantly?
Dwayne De Abreu it would reduce it by about 4 days yes.
very intresting
hmmm, what when did i miss something, what became of c-gelp ? why is it's tail up on the wall, I see there is a orange and little green goblin's now
Is the 300CBI up and running too?
