    The Marauder's personality: "Get in the car! We're goin' for a ride. Sit down, shut up, buckle up and enjoy the ride!" All done in a New York/New Jersey accent.

    This is what the Panther platform deserved, comfort and power. It's a shame this couldn't save Mercury from its old man image. Few cars look like they mean business more than a dark-color Panther car. I wish we lived in a universe where fast land yachts like the Marauder and Impala SS were still common.
    Fun fact, these cars came with a Marauder leather jacket to enhance the buyer's cool guy stature.

      Mercury was Ford’s mid-level brand. It was similar to Buick for GM. This car was out of character for Mercury, but it was a cool car.

    Love the panther platform. Gives me a nostalgic feeling, my grandparents had a 85 crown vic and then a 95. I remember going on road trips when I was a kid, and later filling up the car for my grandma.

    I learned about the Vic Sport that was the “performance” version. Had the regular 4.6, console shifter, dual exhaust and airbag rear suspension.
    I loved that car… I drove it into the ground. 😂😂

    The Marauder is such a badass car. As a Ford guy and someone who has a 1965 Mercury Comet It's so sad what happened to Mercury. They went from Fords cool brother to as you said just badge engineered slop with very little things changed. I wish they could've been able to shine more and they mightve stuck around. Like imagine a modern Mercury Cougar based off the Mustang like it used to be.

    • @ThaDirtyBubble
      @ThaDirtyBubble 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TGT2012 Caprice parts are pretty interchangeable for Impala SS with some exceptions. If I need a part, I can run down to the local pick n pull if they have a Caprice in stock. I might have to scuff it up and paint it, but it should bolt right on.
      Genuine SS interior parts are pretty expensive but depending on what Im after, I can find a Caprice part and paint it SEM grey.
      Marauder’s have specific headlights, front and rear bumpers which Ive heard draw big $$$. Crown Victoria headlights & grille won’t fit into a Marauder’s front header panel. Ive also seen Marauder wheels fetch a pretty penny. I got a clean set of SS wheels PLUS a rear differential and axles for only $500 a few years back.

    The stereo was in fact special to the Maruader only and made by Alpine, the optional Audiophile system with the sub really bumps. The original proto had 4.10 gears but EPA caused a last minute swap to 3 55s. I have a bone stock 50k mile version in NH if you'd like to test it with 4.10s it runs 13.9s in the 1/4 mile instead of 15.5s with the 3.55s. These cars can fck with just a tune 4.10 gears and sticky tires. (Theoretical top speed with 4.10s is well over 180mph, 220+ with 3.55s actual is over 150mph with either)

    • @michaellytis4757
      @michaellytis4757 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      What RPMs do you turn on the highway? I’m actually the owner of this car and I’ve been wanting to go 4.10s but hesitant for obvious reasons. Not my daily so gas mileage isn’t a huge issue

    • @E1320_
      @E1320_ 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @michaellytis4757 I get the best gas mileage at 3000rpms which is 90mph with the stock sized rear tires. Obviously you can't go 90mph everywhere, so if I did it over again I'd go with 4.30 gears. I just want to add I go up and down mountains and it will hold 3krpms without kicking down on the steepest climbs.

      I put 410 on mine and I do mostly highway driving I was thinking about going 373 with my new Marauder I felt like the 4.10s kept the RPM's too high but this was about 6 years ago that I sold that car with 410 so I don't really remember

    I've owned a 2004 Marauder for close to sex years now. It has over 400,000 miles on it. I made a big mistake when I bought my 1st set of tires. I put the same size tires on all 4 corners of the car. After I left the tire shop. I got less than a mile down the road. Then it started bucking. Then it would be good for a few mins, then start bucking again. When I got home. I went to the internet. To see if I could find learn anything about why what would make my car do this. As it was fine before I got new tires. The back tires need to be at least 2% bigger taller than the front tires. Its built right into the computer. I had to shut off my traction control. Drive it that way until I need new tires again. The 2nd mistake I made was thinking parts would be easy to find. I figured any part from a Crown Vic would fit interchange with my car. Wrong. Many Marauder parts are now hard to find as they only will fit a marauder. Mas air flow sensor is a perfect example. I ordered five different ones. The ones you buy from Ford work great. But you cannot get them from Ford today. I said no problem. I'll go buy aftermarket. That did not work out so well. Seems many claiming to be the right part. Fit until you drive down the road. And the car starts bucking do crazy stuff. I'm now on my 5th one. I figured. Hey maybe if I order an air flow for a early Mustang Cobra. Just by luck. It might be the right one. That seemed to resolve the problem. I can't say for sure now. I can't drive the car much. Because I had the timing chain replaced as it was rapping on the housing. I think they didn't do something correct, as it is still making the noise up in the head area. The shop is telling me it's a bad bearing making the noise. I think they put the chain a tooth off and my valves are not in the correct position. making the noise. Other than that. The car is great. It's comfortable, has air, rides nice, great sound system right from the factory. Sun, moon roof. Last complaint is the price of high octane gas now. Over 4 dollars a gallon.

    Nice car. The end conclusion? Not great IMO... Not every car needs to be crazy... Not every car has to be something that tries to kill you... You dissing on "normal" cars at the end, sounds very... Mid 00s UK TopGearish-very juvenile kind of an approach... Its kinda disconnected from real life... IDK... Anyway... Love the Panther platform in general, though its very weird to me, that this one got such a very simple instrument cluster in comparison to other panther platform based vehicles of that era... Still like the rather clean interior design... While i like this gen of the Marauder, i think it suffers from a pretty severe identity crisis... At the end of the day... Its a souped up Crown Vic... People can argue whatever they want, but you look at it and its just... A pimped out sleeper Crown Vic... Is it cool? YES... But can it be called an independent model? Heck no... And frankly? For the long-term daily kind of a usage, Id rather have the Crown Vic or the Lincoln or the regular Mercury P platform of that time, rather than this (though as i said cool but) mish-mash of pimped out parts on a regular Crown-Vic model...

      This car is built on the Panther Platform from Ford. At the time, Ford was naming their chassis after animals. You might be familiar with the Fox platform, which the mustang was built on in the 1980s. Cars built on the panther platform were the Marauder, Grand Marquis, Lincoln Town Car, and Ford Crown Victoria.

    I own 2 Mercury Grand Marquis, an '06 and an '07. I have never really been a fan of the Marauder. I don't like the black color, or the huge ghetto style wheels, or the seriously over complicated engine. I have no interest in speed when it comes to a strictly street car. I do drag race, but I have a purpose built car for that. And it's always on a track. I like light colors, tires with sidewalls, and simple, reliable engines. The 4.6L 2 valve is one of the most reliable engines Ford has ever made. I have 381,000 miles on my '06 Grand Marquis.

    • @WretchedMarauder
      @WretchedMarauder 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      They come in 4 different colors and how are 18inch wheels ghetto. Altimas come with 19s stock. I see 24s or 26s on a car ghetto. There is nothing complicated about the engine.

    • @geraldscott4302
      @geraldscott4302 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@WretchedMarauder To me wheels that are over 15" in diameter are ghetto, unless they are on a large truck. I have a 1968 Ford F-250 which came with 16.5" wheels. I couldn't find tires for them, so I switched to 15" wheels, which gave me wider sidewalls. The huge wheel thing came from the ghetto, where pimps, drug dealers, gang members, and all kinds of criminals with money put them on their cars as status symbols. Thinks kind of got out of hand, which is where donks came from. And, like pretty much every other ghetto trend, the general public rushed to copy it. Eventually car manufacturers started putting this trash on new cars because people wanted it. It's one of those bandwagon things. Many people are followers. If people were getting in line to jump over a cliff, probably half the people in the U.S. would get in line to be part of the trend.
      As for the engine, the Marauder engine is ridiculously complicated compared to the Crown Vic and Grand Marquis. It has 4 overhead cams instead of two, 32 valves instead of 16, and very complex and failure prone cam drive system.
