Why was the roof or peak uneven? I noticed the cut on the base was not symmetrical.

Did the rod just sit in the hole in the top or is it fastened underneath the copper roof
It sits in its hole and the faster at the base creates the seal. But I would caulk it with a clear sealant .
It's just sits there. The weight of it holds it down. It's kinda heavy
