Having built a pack from scratch, I’m so impressed at what they were able to do, and how they figured out how to control the pack with a wand that was already produced separately
It's actually pretty simple when you think about it. The proton gun has a master power switch that connects the circuit or disconnects it from the battery. It would be easy to program a chip that senses that connection and reacts by powering up the pack and gun.
And if something annoys you. A little mod will do the trick.
I also scratch-built my first pack back in 2015. I still have it with my first modified Hasbro Neutrona Wand.
I'm super impressed that the neutrona wand will turn the pack on and off within that 5 minute time linit. They didn't have to go that far, but they did. I honestly can't wait for March so we can start tinkering and modifying the pack, since it is modular.
@@SpaceWizardCosplay I can't wait to mod it and do improvements. I'm sure so.e really smart people in the GB community will have add on boards to fix all the missing features and add full interaction.
@@SW0000A GBFans' shop already has a sound board and light kits that do this for packs, including color changing cyclotron/neutrona wand lights and sounds for the 2009 video game. I did have an Afterlife switch on my wife's 3D printed proton pack before I got the GBFans' neutrona wand wiring and light kit. With how the neutrona wand now controlled the off and on of the pack, that Afterlife switch started a weird loop so I had to disconnect it.

I can't begin to tell you how excited for this I am! All I need now is a legit trap, PKE meter, and Ray's goggles. I wonder if those are in the works at Hasbro Plus HasLabs! :). Thanks for all the work you do!!!
You could always try the Spirit Halloween ones, or use them as a base for your own custom ones. They're not expensive and worth checking out.
@@Number-6 my 8 year old has everything the Spirit of Halloween sells. They are solid, but sometimes, dad just needs to flex lol.

I am so glad I backed this project. That is amazing they figured out how to control both the wand with the neutrino pack.
Can't wait to get mine I backed it when it first came up at only a few hundred people. I had no idea it would get so high. It's gonna be awesome. I'm 42 on the outside but still a kid on the inside.👻

Unboxing was in my wishlist! I’m happy! I loved seeing the pack power on and off with the particle thrower, that was magical! Out of the box I noticed it’s missing the ion arm, I’m wondering if it’s packed somewhere else then needs to be attached?
No, it's there. Just isn't colored like it usually is. Check at 8:54.
All of the "Afterlife" parts are modular. Like someone else mentioned, the ion arm is most likely modular for shipping reasons.
Oh man, it does have the 2021 Afterlife start up sound! So effin hyped for this pack! So glad I backed it! I can't wait to connect the wand and blast away!

It kinda has to be strong for you to feel it on your back, especially with the Alice frame! It just sounds really strong because its rattling the plastic stand :)

All the sound effects and the engineering put in this to get it to us for £350 can’t believe it.
I have ordered the wand as well but will have to custom the tip from orange to silver.
My only 2 issues is we never got to see the stand and the note book looks flimsy, but what we are getting for £350 is excellent.
I'm still pinching myself I'm one of the backers for this! I literally cannot wait for Spring 2023!

I simply cannot wait to get both of mine this spring. One to make it look like the 1984 pack and one to remain unchanged. So hyped!!
I still have a few questions, such as how the Pack reacts when the Wand is fired, whether the Pack interacts with the Wand’s Video Game Easter Eggs, and if the Wand still automatically shuts down after a few minutes.
Guess I may have to wait until I get mine in (hopefully) March and do my own review.
Based on my limited understanding of electronics and assumption on how they achieved pack shutdown from the wand, I doubt there will be any headway on the points you make.
The pack just probably monitors power consumption to sense wand shutdown. When it drops bellow a certain level for a few mommetns it recognizes the wand is off and kills its own electronics within. Also, I'm not sure where I read this but you only have a limited window to re-energize the pack from the wand after remote shutdown. If this is true that whomps a couple couple of your desired features.
Previously I theorized that (being there are no communication points within the wand handle) the only way they could detect mode changes would be through some means to detect the sound of the change unless each mode draws a very very distinct amount of amperage from its power source. Same with it recognizing overheat. This is super doubtful so as much as I think it's a short to not include mode changes or overheat in the pack itself, be ause of this and the fact that they weren't in afterlife we will likely just have to accept then as a fun Easter eggs for the wand alone.

I'm sitting here trying to figure out why the hell they haven't made a car in size scale with the 6-in figures so they can actually fit inside of it the Plasma series car is way too small obviously.
if they made that it probably would be a $400 haslab campaign (have you SEEN the ghostrider hotrod there trying to sell right now?)
Trying to figure out why we don’t even have a Slimer figure in that line. Feel like they’re done with that brand. So many other figures we could of gotten by now if they were actually interested.
@@floydforthought9998 i mean the GB option in selfie series shows that there keeping the brand around for a bit, maybe they just put the ghosts on the backburner in order to rush that afterlife wave (though yes GB is an afterthought to them compared to marvel/starwars)

I was so hoping the wand would be able to control the pack, just shows they had the pack planned when they made the wand that they have this integration. Brilliant.
Thats a lot of value stacked in 1 box! I know a costum build can be better but i doubt anyone could build one for 300 bucks with the same feats (exluding all the extras). This is awesome.

I’m disappointed we didn’t get a new product reveal but at the same time I’m relieved I won’t be buying something else with Christmas approaching 🤣🤣 Pack looks amazing. So excited for this and the upcoming products they prolly have coming up.
I bought a few wands and gutted one to install a GB Fans light kit. It was no problem to swap a real Clippard, brass banjos, new tip and aluminum ear. There shouldn't be any issues doing the same with a light and sound kit to the pack. I'm pretty sure all the plastic fittings, cables, and labels can also be removed and swapped out for the real deal. A 1:1 scale shell and predrilled mother board for only $400? Works for me!

I’m pretty sure this has been asked. I did not find out about the pack until after pre-orders. Are they going to release a new batch of packs for sale or are us not so up-to-date fans SOL and have to purchase through price gouging vendors?
there has not been any talk of producing more than the crowdfunding batch. It's looking like a one off run.
I might be misinformed. But I’m not able to order one of these. And I thought that the packs will be able to order later. But I think I’m wrong. So I must ask. Am I able to buy one of these? Or did I miss it my chance to buy it?

You can’t order it in spring, 2023. This was a HasLab crowd funded project. Only those people who ordered one at the end of 2021 will get one. This won’t be available to buy as a purchase from Hasbro.

No, you don't need the updated neutrona wand.
The only difference is that it has the orange tip for "safety" reasons.
I got one of the first shipments of the Neutrona Wand and absolutely love it. Pride of place in my display unit, but I did not see hasbro were releasing the packs to go with it until a couple of days after backing had ended 😔 wonder if they will make more after the initial run? as I would love to add the pack to my collection. Let's face it who didn't want to be a ghostbuster as a kid 😂
I wanted to be the green ranger when i was a kid so i got a helmet from the people who actually make the helmets for the show, and also got a green ranger morpher. Now I just need this proton pack to fulfill my final childhood dream of being a ghostbuster! Can't believe its shipping soon! good luck man hoping they'll do other proton packs for you in the future, unfortunately they don't make anymore after the funding window closes with haslab funded products.

Ok, did they re-release the wand? And if so does the pack only work with the new version of the wand?
I'm glad there is some sync (on/off) between the wand and pack but it would have been nice to see/know if the cyclotron spools up and down as you fire the wand.

I'm still hoping, but for how I figure they allow for remote shutdown (monitoring power consumption in the wand) and that there are no noticeable communication connections in thr wand.... I'm doubtful

Am I being dumb or will the old Neutrona Wand also have the ability to power the pack? They emphasised that it was the 'updated' one with the orange tip in the video. Were they emphasising that because of the orange tip or because of this new power feature?
I was wondering the same as far as I know the only change was the orange tip but I guess we will have to wait and see
I would think the original releases work the same way. The guy doing the demo didn't specify, it was the girl who said "the updated wand", but she didn't seem to have a lot of important info throughout the video.
The wands are identical apart from the orange tip.

I bought the wand when it first came out. I bought a second when I found out they were doing this HasLab. I converted the first to go with my homemade pack. I can’t wait, I hope there aren’t any delays!

The preorder for the proton pack was last year so your only other option is eBay or something like that but it’ll probably be double or triple the price.

Hopefully there is mounting hardware in there for an Alice frame. I know they kind of mentioned it on tested with Adam Savage.

Also, did you catch that little "Updated neutrono wand" from Pam? I hope they improved the barrel extension gimmick which was known to break the electronic cables inside the wand.
I think the update may have been them having switched the tip to the "It's a toy" orange thing. I will be wrapping that up with tin foil, for sure.
Or.. it's an update in the electronics to control the pack 🤔
I just hope those with the original thrower don't get screwed out of functionality.

They did? It's going to be powered by 4 D Cell batteries (could be more but it's D Cell batteries)

Unlikely, unfortunately... They made it pretty clear that backing the campaign was the only way to get one from Hasbro. You might have to pay a douchebag scalper's eBay prices from here. 🤷
So i see 3 modifications i want to make. Ion arm, blue light and possibly volume needed. I love it ordered a few but i could literally hear the pack moaning when they turned on vibration. Seems like a bit excessive. It sounded like an old man getting out of bed lol. Does the pack make the blasting sound when you connect it?
Aside from the vibration while sitting on the stand, did you pay attention?
It was mounted on a solid plastic stand. And plastic is a very good sound conductor/amplifier, especially when it is sandwiched between a rumbling item and a table.
My uncle is Thom Enriquez, lives in Santa Monica, is 72 now…and said making ghostbusters was just mainly a job…none of them knew it would blow up like it did… he’s retired and does his own projects…
They used one of the "new" wands with the orange tip, but I've got the older one with the silver tip. Have we confirmed the original wands will work, or do I have to buy another one?
Wands are identical outside of the tip, so the OG should work perfectly fine.

I was also concerned, I noticed she called attention to the fact that the Neutrona Wand was "updated" when they showed the compatibility.

I've been waiting for a pack like this my entire life I never felt comfortable shelling out 3,000 dollars for a pack so to pay 400 for this beauty makes me thrilled and glad I decided to buy 2 of them now I can make a 1984 pack and have the afterlife pack on display in my Ghostbusters room.

I'm seriously worried about the rigidity of the connecting hose... It still looks pretty stiff in this video, the way it defies gravity when he first holds it up. I would much rather something a bit more "floppy".
Side note: Man, am I glad I got the first iteration of the Spengler wand, because that orange tip is RIDICULOUS. :D
Newer hose material can be stiff. It may only need a lot of movement to loosen it up.
It *is* a toy, after all. Easily rectifiable.
@@TehAnKorage it is. And hopefully it does loosen up a bit. Worst case scenario, I'm sure there are ways to modify it. That's one thing the GB prop community is EXTREMELY good at. 😁

The original will work too, Adam Savage got a chance to showcase this last year and they used the original.

I honestly can't wait to buy one of these, when I was a kid I looked at all the proton packs being made by prop builders. But the issue was they all were about the same price as a used car, around 1,500 to 3,000 depending on where you bought it from. So this coming out and being able to afford a decent proton pack prop excites me. Might cry once I buy one of these, idk. We'll see.
Sorry man, these aren’t for sale anymore. You had to back it as part of the haslab pre sale. Haslab doesn’t release these for sale after the pre sale. Your only chance would be the secondary market once they are released ie- eBay. Which will be much pricier.

Looks good overall, though i think the afterlife setting needed to have the cyclotron start slower and build up speed a bit more. Just seems to reach full tilt a bit quick and doesn't seem as fast as the movie.

I could be wrong, but I think the orange tip *is* the update. Maybe a wire assembly, also.
I am so excited on when it comes out right now I’m just gonna get a little plastic one for Halloween this year but I can’t wait until the next year will come😊
What about those who don't have a wand?
I was worried that it would be difficult to mod my pack, so that it could moo like a cow. But it looks like the designers have really thought of everything. I'm so glad Hasbro has included this unexpected functionality at no extra cost. Of course I'm only joking. I've wanted a realistic proton pack since 1984. I pre-ordered two of these things and I don't regret it...yet.

That was most likely caused by the bumper not being fully secured, that it was sitting on the stand, or a combination of both. Still no where near a dealbreaker for the price.
It was sitting on the stand and on a table that amplified the reverberation. And, as munchxing says, the bumper wasn't fully secured.
*QUESTION:* So the pack _WILL_ be available to the general public right, or just to those who have pre-ordered?
Sadly it is only officially available to those who pre-ordered it. That is to say you could, order one off eBay after they get released, but Their is a chance you get scammed

Preorder only but i seriously doubt they do a public release. I do not think any Hasbro Pulse Haslab project have been released to the public. That is Marvel, Star Wars, GI Joe, or Transformers. They have the tooling for all of these previous offerings and I have not seen one released publicly yet.

The usual way would be backers, first, then pre-orders and if they decide for a public release then they'll add that part on, later.
What is the power source???? Standard D size batteries or rechargeable?

There's an '84 *and* Afterlife mode. Just throw a switch.
Just remove a couple of the extemporaneous hoses, change the stickers, maybe a little paint job, throw the switch for 1984 mode and voila, 1984 pack!!!
