      Hello Stephane, I have a 2012 with a G56 that I plan on installing a nv5600 into, What's involved with making the swap besides drive shafts and cross member. What do you have to order for a clutch set up? I already have installed a single mass flywheel/clutch set up from south bend. Also I have experienced the 5th gear clicking noise sense new and all the springs let go in the original dual mass flywheel at about 20,000kms, Bought the truck new in Alberta but currently living in Newfoundland sense 2015. Thanks.

      Currently all the pullers are original Miller special tools that are expensive but usually can be found on ebay.

    hey, I got a question. I can't find an answer on forms or anywhere. The seal on the rear output shaft, is that installed from the inside or can I just replace that from the outside? like remove my transfer case, replace the seal and put the transfer back on

    • @TorqueKingTV
      @TorqueKingTV  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That is 100% an outside job, although your transfer case is also sealed from the input... Not sure what kind of leak you have but while you're in there check the 5600 for shaft play and that the vent on top of tailhousing isn't plugged.

    I get griding when I try to want to put my truck in reverse, but it does end up engaging with a bit of wiggle on the stick, and sometimes it pops out of gear. I suspect it's the teeth on the engagement plate on the reverse gear, Do you think I can just replace the reverse gear on my nv5600 without taking out the transmission. If so, I would need to know what tool you used to loosen and tighten the main shaft nut? looks custom-made. but not sure. Also, do I need the main shaft holding tool or will the clutch being engaged do the trick? anything else I should replace, maybe the syncro or the plate or the collar?? Really would appreciate your help. Thanks

      Hi- replacing reverse while in the truck would be tricky, but possible. It may be reverse gear, shift sleeve, or both that need to be replaced in addition to synchro pieces.
      The spline wrench is QT2000, nut wrench is getting cut in the next couple weeks with part number to be determined...

    late comment i know just looking for help i recently bought a 2003 ram 2500 with a 5.9 24v ho equipped with an nv5600 6 speed was driving it home was in 6th gear and a guy came to a stop to turn i slowed down to about 15 went to switch to 3rd gear heard a grind noise like gear grinding and the transmission would only go into 4th felt like 3rd was there but just popped right out got it home by finagling it into 6th gear and after changing fluid it will only go into 2nd , 4th and 6th if you mess with it enough any idea on what could have happened to the nv5600?
    unsure of maintenance to the transmission truck has 269k miles.

      It's hard to say whats going on there, but the transmission has probably never been rebuilt yet. It is possible you have excessive end play and that is messing with shift rail alignment.

    What a massive transmission for a pickup truck! How much does it weigh with the transfer case attached? I searched all over the country in 2005 looking for a 4wd Dodge 2500 with the NV5600 (it was a $400 dollar option for heavy duty transmission). I finally found one in Hudson, Wisconsin and flew up there to buy it. It was 9 below zero the morning I picked it up and drove it home to Texas. I still have this truck and will leave it to my Son. Best truck I have ever had!

      Hi Victor, these transmissions alone weigh 360 pounds dry. Add the transfer case, and you have one heavy setup. When properly cared for, their stout design can last a very, very long time.

      @@longrangegear put the np205 on the back of the nv5600 your looking at what easily 500 600 lbs combination lol, solid setup.

      Hi Victor- in addition to the 360+ lbs of the transmission, the factory NP271 / NP273 weighs about 120lbs. I don't recall the exact weight of a 205 but either combo wouldn't be something you would want to "rest" on your foot!

      What fluid do you use in this transmission? I’ve read mopar spec is very similar to 5w30 but that they updated that spec to ATF+4 or better. I’ve read MTF 90 manual transmission fluid, synchromesh etc.

      @@Junorr500 pennzoil synchromesh or redline MTL is what we recommend.

    How long does it take a shop for this?

  • @edwardferguson1072

    my sixth gear "sings" increasingly with engine rpm when in gear. other gears do not make this noise. also, the transmission produces metal in the collection magnet in the bottom about every 5k miles. how much longer can I get away with using (and not destroy the internals beyond rebuilding? obviously something is eating itself. 2003 dodge 2500 with 175,000 miles.

    • @TorqueKingTV
      @TorqueKingTV  ปีที่แล้ว

      You should probably park the truck immediately. Besides the obvious issue of metal getting run through every bearing surface, it will also pack in oil ports and reduce oiling to needle bearings which will compound the problem.
      You might get another 20k out of it, but it could blow tomorrow. These transmissions can have some pretty major issues but still act ok while severely tearing stuff up.
