Imagine working at a label and then getting this sent in as a demo. I would actually cry this is so fucking good!!!! I don't know if I like the demo or the final version better but oh my god, I love this band, this album, and especially this song. Rest in peace Layne and Mike, you guys were so talented and your music speaks to my very soul
There is another demo version out there somewhere..its a tad quicker beat and unplugged..best one by far my stepson long ago burned it limewire style but that CD got worn bigtime..had an awesome dirt demo too
Nice! the feel is a bit more on the beat, in other words, less laidback than the Facelift album version ... it's a bit faster guitars a bit louder there's more bottom end here too
Sounds like the vocals in the chorus have been repeated (i.e. part of the second chorus is very similar to the first), note the blip at 3:12 But yeah this version kicks the other version's ass
Actually this song is about heroin.... back in the day most heroin was considered "China white".... the blade he refers to is a needle... the line "let me borrow 50 bucks" is the price a bundle was back then
@@ianyoutz4122 Well, Layne and Jerry have both said that the song was about coke, probably to cover up the songs true meaning, but, from their mouth, it’s about coke.
@@old.school.ghoul81 probably heroin, being as it was Layne's drug of choice. He probably purposefully wrote this song vaguely, to obscure the fact that it was about his heroin habit. *...in a 1996 interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Mr. Staley was covered with needle marks, and spoke obliquely about drug use.* " *I wrote about drugs, and I didn't think I was being unsafe or careless by writing about them,'' Mr. Staley said. They really put their hearts and soul into this !!!
That speed! Oh my gosh!
I prefer the demo version over the original end product
yep it sounds like the Facelift version was using the late 80s early 90s production values
2:01 best part in my opinion

Please don’t take Our Lord’s Name in vain. Peace!
I love the demos! They are so raw and heavy!
Layne sounds a lot more glam here
It's the reverb they have on his voice; I bet the studio they did these demos at did a lot of glam bands
Do you really look like him?Sorry if I go off topic. To you,William,eh.
Si buscas las demos .... Welcome, you are a real fans.
Wow love this version! The guitar layers and the vocals are so fabulous!!! Love it
Wow this version is amazing, love facelift tho😍

I thought they started using heroin in the time BETWEEN facelift and dirt. Either way it's definitely about one or the other.
