The game is awesome, it is a blast for those who dive deep, explore and engage with the sidequests. But it is more open world, so a bigger fraction of its story is on option sidequests rather than on a linear main story.
Nearly 10 years since I first played it, Xenoblade X had the greatest open world I've ever experienced. I can never get tired of running around the world.
Sort of off topic but you got to play Xenogears. If you enjoyed the numbered trilogy you will 100% enjoy Xenogears, you can see the early beginnings of certain tropes and concepts that appear in the blade games and how they evolved over decades. Xenosaga is also worth playing if you have the time/money however with the success of blade I wouldn’t be surprised if Nintendo and Bandai do a saga trilogy remaster so I might hold out on saga. Sorry for the essay but any Xenoblade fan should give Xenogears a chance it’s amazing.
The final part of the trailer is "a big deal", because it's an entirely new area and new story-content that wasn't in the original game. If you haven't played Xenoblade X, congrats, you have one of the rare masterpieces in videogames ahead of you. Just a heads up, and I hope it doesn't come off as self-advertisment, but I recommend watching my short 3 minutes-guide to Xenoblade X, just to approach the game with the right expectations, because it's quite different to Xenoblade 1-3. Looking forward to your future reaction videos! th-cam.com/video/zVexlivwp-Q/w-d-xo.html
So with Xenoblade X specifically, the story is as open as the world design. You're gonna get more from it, the more you explore the world and do the side missions. The "main" story are more like narrative checkpoints, than they are a shakespearean epic like the main trilogy. So my advice is to not rush X. Look for those side missions, learn about the world and the people living there, get attached to the lives you're saving. The game was designed in a way where the side missions and story is so huge, that everyone has their own experience with the game. It's magnificent, it's unique. And I urge anyone to give it's style of storytelling a try. I've never played anything else like it
If you like the song, it's called Uncontrollable. Like all other music in the original XBX, it's made by NOT Matsuda Yasunori who did the main series BUT none other than Sawano Hiroyuki who did Aldnoah Zero, Gundam NT and Attack on Titan. However, the original story wasn't complete. XBXDE is to finish the story and make it perfect. The music of the second half of the game is highly probable to be made by Mitsuda instead, as you can hear after "The world still needs you."
The main story is quite good, it is not better than 2 or 1, although I prefer it more than 3, it is a mix of alien invasion, stellar expedition, survival and the anime/manga "Ghost in The Shell", the problem that Since it is an open world, "you decide when to continue the story", in this aspect it is similar to Zelda BoTW, but it requires you to do certain quests to pass the chapter, in the trailer there are new things that were not in the main game, I hope they are changes that benefit the way they treat the story and the secondary characters. The problem of the game is the large number of characters, although they allow you to see and empathize with their perspective of adaptation to their new life in Mira, after solving their problems they are relegated to oblivion or secondary in few cinematics of the game, there are exceptions such as Elma who is the main one, Lyn who you carry in most of the story, Irina who appears sometimes and Law. In gameplay, it is the one I like the most of the 4, its world and graphics are superior to 1-3, in this trailer they show graphic improvements, character redesign, changes in the UI, help, etc. In this game there is enormous freedom when it comes to creating your avatar, its abilities or traveling around the map, The game experience changes radically when you get the Skell.
