Great! and I didn't break it up like that, I just unscrewed the pad with the brains and turned it sideways a little) and the tpc also removed the coils)

Great tip! A lot of people don't replace the coils and go over to the COPS system and leave them in there. I just bought another rebuild and I will fit a COPS system so people can see how they work. I subscribed to your channel and still can't believe it's not running correctly. Don't give up!!1 KR

I learn something new every time.
I thought that the coil packs were all over the battery. Haven't had to change or pulll the battery yet on my bike, so have only seen the two coils there on top.

Damon hello, I was happy to read that my video has helped you. Yes, vmax’s have 4 coils. The two that you see above the battery and the two in my video. Bikes have many different types of coils. Some have just one coil for many cylinders and some for each. But when you have just one coil for each there are many advantages. If one coil breaks you can still ride and get home on three cylinders. Having one per cylinder also allows for a better spark. One day you will have to pull your battery and have a good look around under there. Thank you always for watching and commenting! KR

@@kodokunaraida1044 what do you know about the COPs modification where the stock coils are replaced with books that are attached to the spark plug boot?
Any advantage to this? I've seen them on eBay and believe that these are similar to some found on sport bikes

Yes they are great. You have to be careful you don’t buy rubbish though. I always recommend you buy from Sean Morley of Morley muscle. He will always sell you the right product. What they are is a coil and cap in one just like a car uses. I’ve bought a new rebuild and may use cops for that build. But if your bike is working fine with standard coils there is no real need to change them. If my coil/s started breaking down I would definitely change to a good set of COPS

    Another great, informative video!
Do you have any opinion about COPS conversions?
Apparently there are some vmax owners who bypass the stock coil packs and install modern Coil over Plug leads like those used in modern motorcycles.
In the vmax forums, there seem to be multiple threads about this modification.
Just wondering if you have a yea or nay opinion .

Hi Tai , I have never had COPS on any of my Vmax's but I have nearly bought them many times. I also have read the forums with some people swearing by them and some even changing back to original coils again.
personally I like technology and I think COPS are definitely the way to go instead of buying new coils and all the fuss you have to go through to change a lead or coil over.
But if I was going to change to COPs I would go to a specialist like Sean Morley from Morleys muscle to ensure I had the correct ones. He maybe a little more expensive but they will work properly.
I've just bought another rebuild and I may just get some to try on that build. KR

Yes, it is old technology and it's scary for some people. I hope my videos give people the courage to have a go and try. KR

Yes, it’s not and easy job but I’ve also seen so many bikes not t running well as the owner or mechanic doesn’t have the confidence to change the leads. I hope my video will change that. Thanks for watching.KR
