Just leaving this for people outside the US, the Queens public library in New York City offers a non-resident membership for $50 a year

Thank you so much! This hobby is a work in progress that I still get self-conscious about, so your comment means the world!!

I love that you drew the red wig for Just Murdered, very good memory trigger.

Thank you so much, Kritz!! You are now making me feel behind on my own 2024 journal though 😅 Any spreads you are 100% doing??

@@leandrathetbrzero I didn't say I started it, just thinking about it, so don't feel behind! I want to focus on reading what I own, so I will be making a challenge/spread for that for sure

@@Kritz_Reads YESSS!! Do it! I plan on getting my 2024 journal this weekend, and maybe (very maybe) I will soon record a 2024 spreadsheet video to showcase what I decide to keep/change/add. 🤞😆

I freaking love Mildliners!!! They are beautiful. 😊 I love seeing your process. The idea of tracking what days you were reading which books is really cool. You're so creative with your drawings. It's fun to see which images you pair with each read! You review so many of your reads! You're making me want to get back into journaling. You are so brave free drawing! Ahh! I always have to sketch things first. 😬 Your stat pages is really interesting. Love to see "Out of Your Comfort Zone" books represented! Also YAY for library rep! Keep the bullet journalling videos coming (if you enjoy it).

Mildliners are the future! But also...the present 😂 And I can attest that there are many times I regret free-drawing hahaha thank you for all of the lovely words!! Hoping to definitely be more consistent with the journaling content!! ❤

I love your bujo! This year I bought 2 journals - one for my monthly spreads and one for just reviews. However after reviewing EVERY title for the first few months, it started to feel more like a chore and so I stopped completely. Maybe I'll go back to it and only do books that really strike me.
Also I have to say, I may steal your cover page idea for next year! Love it!

Thank you!!! ❤️ And I fully only doing full reviews for books you feel strongly about because it really does become time consuming and overwhelming to do EVERY book! And yes PLEASE steal the cover page idea! I already plan on stealing it for myself next year too 😂

Love this! I love horror (though, I'm a huge coward... I can only read/watch horror during the day, especially after losing my parents), and I'd be happy to give you a few good Y.A. recs, if you'd like. I read Rin Chupeco's The Girl From the Well and The Suffering, they were fantastic. You've got this! Keep up the great work. God bless.

Shayna!! Your comments are always so lovely to see ❤️ (1) Thank you for the YA recommendations!! (2) You and I are on the same page as far as horror goes. I refuse to watch any horror that came out post-1999. The special effects are just too visceral for me! And I can fully understand how your perspective on the genre can be affected by the loss of loved ones. All the best to you and yours ❤️

My question is before you DNF a book, how far have you been reading before that happens? For me it's a complicated answer. I take into consideration plotline, major themes and character development as well. The worst I have DNFed was a fantasy romance, with a modern atmosphere in a fantasy-lite setting, poorly developed characters and repetitive plotline. I barely got past 20% before I chucked it. I think I gave that one too much of my time by that point, even if it was lauded by book readers. But usually I refuse to DNF before reading at least a third of the book.

Thanks for this thoughtful question! I agree that the answer is complicated. For me, much of it depends on the reason for DNFing. If there is an event/character/element that I find so offensive or viscerally so upsetting I cannot continue, then that could be at 10%, 50%, or 90%. This happened recently to me with Hungry Ghosts by Jared Kevin Hosein. If I am simply not engaged with the story, feeling bored or disinterested in the characters, then I try to give the book 50-100 pages if I can before DNFing. A third reason might be that I know my dislike for a book is a me thing (like trying a book in a genre I am not familiar with, for instance) and giving it 2 stars feels wrong because I know I was not the intended audience, then I will DNF as soon as I realize that. For instance, A Guide to the Dark by Meriam Metoui was YA grief horror, something I didn't know if I liked or not, and I read almost all of it but elected to DNF/skim the ending as not to give the book a bad rating simply bc I realized I don't like grief horror as a subgenre.
There are other reasons across my many DNFs, but those are the most big 3. Again, thanks so much for giving your perspective and asking for mine!
