I think it should be mentioned that the Hurtigruten is not a cruise line. It is a ferry that transports passengers with or without cars and carry goods along the coast of Norway. Also it arranges excursions and information talks about Norway.
Hi Birgitta, Thanks for your comment. I have talked more about how a Hurtigruten voyage is on other videos in the series. This one talks about what you mentioned. th-cam.com/video/_NckVFa3O_I/w-d-xo.html Best Michael
Another brilliant blog, Michael. And yes, it was expensive, but a lot cheaper than hiring a car then setting off to drive the route - I loved your rant! PS Hopefully you received a better response to your "live" chat on some of your other platforms.
I did the full 12 days tour in 2022 and also did 9 shore excursions. Most excursions were worth their money, but not all of them. As you say it was an expensive holiday and for me the totall amount paid ended at little over 6K euro's and for only 12 days that's a lot of money. Normally i travel around western Canada for a month and spend around the same amount of money. Nevertheless i'm thinking about doing the winter version of the Hurtigruten in the near future.
HATE the clips - not needed and you are on an expensive cruise to an expensive region and seem to count the cost of everything and dismiss the value of everything. We only pass this way once. Just enjoy x
I did enjoy it, as you can see on my other videos. I also concluded as such at the end of the video. I produced this for openness about what it cost me, to help others plan their trips. Michael. X
@@michaelhortin I travelled in May 2016. I only did the excursion to the North Cape on the way up. I walked by myself in Trondheim and Tromso. Going south I did a trip over the Atlantic road and a trip over a part of the Lofoten. I’m considering going again 😊
Hurtigruten it’s a little different, as the ship is quite small and there are not huge numbers of people on board compared to some of the big cruise lines. It’s also the best way to see a country like Norway. Michael
The opportunistic, half-criminal mindset of those who are taking your money does not appeal to me, which is typical of all cruise lines. I can handle being cramped in a box for a few days, but I cannot tolerate coming home with the feeling of having been fooled. Additionally, I dislike dealing with companies that treat their employees poorly. I also don’t like cruise lines where taxpayers cover half the cost of my tickets, like Hurtigruten and Havila. The Norwegian coastline is best experienced from a 30-foot sailboat that you can rent with a friend. While a car also provides a better experience, it takes much more time -something you have if cruises are an option. Don't support crooks - Stay away from cruises.
Excellent video. Yes all of the other expenses really can add up. Thanks again.
Yes it does add up

Thx. We will explore driving Norway soon🙃👍
@@michaelhortin Not by hire car, I hope?
How much of the places you visited like the churches could you have done without a tour?
Was a mix on cost. As I remember is Ar

Yes I’ve been thinking winter and Havilla
@@michaelhortin i haven't compared both companies yet. Do you think i should consider Havilla?
I can't recommend Havila as I have not been with them yet, but think I will in the future….

How many days in total’please
I did 11 not 12 days
One tip skip the journey from Bergen to Kirkenes take it from Kirkenes to Bergen.
Thanks for the tip, why that way?
@@michaelhortin You will get a nicer cruise with a better wiev
I did the whole 12-day trip and found the trip up north more interesting than going back south😊
@@tiniselles unbalance I would agree. The only thing is, from what I was told, the bus on the Lofoten is better on the journey south.

Too many silly interruptions.
Thanks for your feedback
Enough of the B roll - the content is interesting without those annoying clips!
Thx for the feedback, it helps in the future..👍
The clips are really annoying!!!!!!
To each their own! I thought they were fun/entertaining

I will never cruise anywhere ....in a sardine can with strangers: no appeal

@@michaelhortin Michael, perhaps if you have some as yet unseen footage onboard the ship, this might persuade @beammeup8458 to reconsider. Johnnie.
