Yes you're right she can't do it, yet... but She is also doing military precision marching... Bet she came from a MB that focused heavily on precision and uniformity over theatrics. Both have their place and I give credit to her for going out of her comfort zone to learn

Back in the late 70's Grambling State Band camp was West Point type of training. People were passing out from training. We had 2 overweight people in the band. Wow, how things have changed.
Marching in a Band isn't just stage presence it's also about precise execution of the routines, Marching is a stride executed with high knees, enthusiasm, and showmanship; not going through the motions and looking like you don't feel like it today. Directors should video tape drills and performances to review in efforts to picking out only those members that truly wants to represent and give a GREAT Performance 👍
She may have been lacking in the areas of dance but she seemed to be doing pretty well to me. On top of that, being a drum major is much more than knowing how to dance. You have to be a good leader that is able to take charge so she obviously got chosen for some reason. You should be defending and encouraging her to do better rather than bashing her. Most of these comments do say that she looks a mess but 90% of the comments that do, also praise her in other areas of her performance.
Came from a military style band and wouldn't been able to handle the theatrics of this band. My jaw dropped at that side kick. People don't understand there is a huge difference between show bands and military bands. They are just focusing on race. That young lady did better than I would have.
