I subscribe to several TH-cam guinea pig pages. Some are more fashion/entertainment based, others are informative and teach me a lot. Your videos are the only ones where my husband will pop his head in and say "I like this guy" or "he's got good, wholesome content". Thanks for sharing so much with the internet, you've helped me be a better caretaker!

I can’t thank you enough for recommending this in past videos! I give this to my boys every day, at first they were unsure about it but now they love it. I have to fight them to give me back the syringe! They later came up with an URI, and giving them this everyday not only helped with their healing and immune system while recovering, it also helped them take their meds better through a syringe. Has done nothing but good for my two piggies.

my baby boy Auggie has been dealing with some dental issues for a little over a week now, i’ve been going crazy because i had no idea how expensive the vet would be, how to help him properly, etc. i had no idea that he shouldn’t have been sold to me as a single piggy, & i had no idea that piggies were prone to dental issues. i also didn’t know that piggies are not good starter pets. i did my research before picking him up, but i guess its my fault i didn’t do enough of it cause maybe i could’ve helped prevented this. i feel like i’m giving him a bad life tbh, but i’m doing my best & i guess my point of this comment is just to say thank you for your advice & all of your videos. i’ve been struggling finding tips, & i’ve been praying that someone could help & your videos are definitely the answer to my prayers so thank you thank you for everything & all the info. please keep doing what you’re doing. because of you, i’m able to help save my baby Auggie a little easier & build his strength until his surgery on wednesday.

I feed my piggies Oxbow vitamin C treats. Liquid vitamin C is a great way to supplement piggies nutritional needs. My vet would put flavorings in Baytril so that the piggies would tolerate the Baytril. I love how your piggies are standing up to meet each other. Thank you for posting.

I have that liquid vitamin C, oxbow tablets and fresh good sources of vitamin C like bell pepper 🫑. Here's the catch, I offered a daily tablet plus the fresh veggies and good quality guinea pig pellets, and our exotic vet told me that there's an unhealthy excess of vitamin c that could actually cause then medical conditions, one of my pigs have white spots on his eyes, in Spanish they're called Colistomas, I don't know the term in English, and the doctor says they could be from too much vitamin C, from that moment on I have that in mind, I still offer half of a tablet and their veggies and pellets, but it's information that I feel important enough to share with the piggie people. Great hat 🤠

I give my Piggies fresh vegetables like kale, yellow, orange, & red peppers, carrots, parsley, occasionally oranges & Apple's, watermelon, cucumbers & Romaine although that one doesn't really have a lot of vitamins it's just delicious!🐹 and of course the hay in the pellets.
👍😉 I used to get the Oxbow vitamin C tablets but they didn't want them!

I use the Childlife vitamin C daily because all my pigs are rescue and show signs of scurvy. I get them over the initial crisis, and if I drop back to not daily and the symptoms show back up no matter how much vitamin C fresh foods I give. I give 0.5 ml daily unless otherwise warranted, then up to 1 ml once a day or twice a day.
For emergency kit, I do keep the regular supplies and as I get new, I take the emergency kit one out and use it.
Between vitamin C and Emeraid, my pigs think syringes are treats.

I live in Canada and we don't have child life here. I was told by a lady that rescued hundreds of guinea pigs and ran a rescue for 12 years. Tell me to use Redoxon. It is a tab that you add to water. She said to separate it into 16 equal portions and dissolve each portion into 1ml. water.

It also gives you and your piggies practice eating from a syringe incase they ever get sick. I would think since they are used to it they would be less likely to breath in a liquid instead of drinking it.
Although I do have one piggie that doesn't like it. She comes up with everyone else and has tried it but tries to spit it out every time. She likes oxbow Vit c cookies.

There seems to be some conflicting views at the rescue? Saskia has stated that she’s not a fan of synthetic vitamin C and she’s theorised that excess of it being peed out could contribute to the formation of sludge/stones etc? Saskia has said that that it’s not necessary if they’re healthy and getting a balanced diet. It’s good to have if they’re ill/deficient of course.
There’s also a study I’ve seen shared on Wheekers that showed high intake of vitamin C over long periods in guinea pigs caused arthritic issues.
I do have an opened bottle, so I’ve swapped to giving them 0.5 ml each rather than the full 1ml. They like the taste, but they easily get enough in their diet. I give 1ml if one goes to the vets/gets medicine though.

That liquid vitamin C saved me a lot of trouble. It's the first thing I taught my piggies, drinking this from a syringe. I had to battle soft poopies, bloating for 4 months (on and off) after adoption and can put all the yucky meds in the syringe, mix it with vitamin C to hide the taste and give a piece of veggie as extra encouragement afterwards. Works like a charm 🙂
