it seemed to me like one of the hardest listenings i've tried, but i've got 28 points, which is my best score ever! I got about 19 points from the previous one, so it really is about a certain exam. thank you for your videos!
This is a logics test more than an English test. I am a non-native speaker. I had my GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) exam in 2003, finished business school, and worked in the United States. I find this exam much harder than GMAT since I've got so many wrong ones. Makes me wonder how the hell did I survive all these years working in Corporate America.
For some reason I failed all of the questions in part 1 and 3 while I always do well in this task. I reckon this particular listening test has a lot of logical ambiguities which do not have anything common with the language itself. I would definitely fail such questions even in my native language
Good morning, first of all thanks for your content. Very usefull. I do think that some questions are a bit far-fetched, which on the one hand is good because they prepare you, but on the other... For example, take a look at 5th in Part 1: she says the book was a birthday present, then adds she heard about it from a friend. Why then, the answer is "was recommended it to her" (that I don't understand it, so hearing about it, is not the same as recommending it) it is more correct than the one that "it was a gift", (which is what It was.) Thank you Constructive criticism and from love always A hug
About question 5: If A recommends a book to B, A can tell B about it, and B hear it from A >> so in this case, we can get the idea that the speaker was recommended when she says she heard it from a friend. And noticing the reason she read the book is because first she heard it from a friend, she got the idea it was special and then she asked for it specifically. A birthday gift is just a result (she asked for it after hearing it from a friend), not a reason she read the book. >> C is the correct answer.
24/30, but 5 of my mistakes were in the last part, so I probably have to train that. It just feels so hard to focus on both things, so I think that doing only left part on first listen and only right part on the second one will be better. Does anyone have different tricks?
I struggle alot as well... i guess you need to be very attentive and make some notes during their talking, the problem is that i'm doing the computer-based exam, and its a little bit more difficult for note-taking....
people usually recommend doing that, but I think it wastes the opportunity to get important info that you might have lost the first time you listened. but after you practice a bit, you get accustomed to the fact that you have to do both tasks at the same time and start to understand that the answer is always revealed in a sequence. thus speakers first say the answer for one task and then the other one and that helps you to handle all the information better
Keep practicing. The more we practice, the better we do. Hear are some tips for part 4: + Read and listen to the instructions + Use the time given to read the text and try to predict the sort of information you are going to hear. + Focus on a detail understanding of the meaning of the text. + Try to choose the best option for each question during the first listening and check again during the second listening. + Try to practice and listen to as much English as you can. Listening to English podcasts, radio programmes, watching films …The more you listen, the more you will hear. + Put a dot beside the answer you think is correct when you listen for the first time. Then make your final choice on the second listening.
24/30 I've noticed it again: the answer I put during the first time of listening eventually is correct, so sometimes the second listening is rather confusiing for me😂
