I can't explain it but after being on a Cake Boss binge, arriving here and seeing Buddy so natural and passionate made me want to cry. I just think of all the quality time him and his father must have spent together.

Probably tlc is a little more scripted
A lot of people tend to judge him and say he’s acting different to change his image, but tlc is known to exaggerate things to get views. Not only that but working a bakery, especially if it was popular and a lot sold, it’s stressful. You have to be harsh sometimes, to get that respect from your co workers, so they don’t see you as a pushover. My mom owns 3 restaurants and whenever I work there, shes sometimes loud and stressed, but it’s because it’s hard work. You need to impress your customers, to keep them coming. If you’re slow, theyre not coming back Bc theyre gonna find some place else that’s faster

This. I work for a mom and pop coffee shop and so many of us break under the stress including myself but the owners have to hold it together.
Buddy’s dad was obviously a marvellous teacher.

I just watched clips from that competition after reading this. Buddy was right to walk off the set. The Producers had that show rigged, obviously, as they needed Duff to win in order to promote the show they had lined up for him.
Those dark purple flowers look amazing with the bright yellow inside of them. Love it😍

Thank you for starting this youtube channel Buddy. I'm from India and have been watching you and your family in TV for past few years. I love your family; I hope everyone stays together like you guys. If God grants me a wish, I'll get to meet you in person and just see you live decorating a cake once in my lifetime. Due to some circumstances I wasn't able to watch your show from past 1 year and today luckily your vedio popped up in youtube.
I started loving cakes after watching your shows in TV and wanted to become a baker. I just started to bake cakes in oven from past 2 months without going to any baking classes just was hoping for any tutorial for cake decorating and your vedio showed up. I think it's a sign that I should start baking and continue it. Thank you again for the butter cream flowers tips.
I tried once to prepare butter cream once and it wasn't that good will keep trying and then try the flowers you taught in this video.

The advantage of buttercream over fondant is that it's *actually* edible.

Ah the childhood memories on the farm. My aunt asked me what color of birthday cake I wanted her to make me....I said BLUE....It came out the beautiful purple there....Best birthday cake I ever had.
Beautiful cake and they surprise me every time. I think "Aw, no, not those colors together!" and then it comes out gorgeous.

I bought the Russian tips a few years ago, thinking they might make for lovely piping on the wedding cake for my dads 2nd marriage. However, no “instructions” as to the best way to to use each tip and what flowers they make. So, I was lost! And, since then, they’ve sat for 2 years in my tips case, looking lonely!
Mr Valasco, thank you for showing me not only how to use them and different flowers, but you also showed me (old fashion way!) how to make roses! I’ve always been so intimidated trying. And each time I got my courage up and tried, they either looked like a large “smursh” or a rose that got run over by my grandsons tonka dump truck!
I must keep reminding myself as I PRACTICE that I mustn’t give up and to keep trying! Once I perfect is when I use them on my cakes! Thank you again sir!

So very beautiful, and yes, the colors pop right off of the spring green. And while the Russian tips are nice, especially with the added center stem of a different color, there's nothing more beautiful then Buddy's hand made butter cream flowers. A real artist, with an awesome skill, producing truly gorgeous art. Such a joy to watch!!

I really like the mixture of traditional flowers and the Russian tip flowers. Some people just do the Russian tip flowers by themselves and it isn't as full and pretty. Thank you.

Buddy needs to be praised for making Carlo's Bakery the success that it is!!! It's not easy to do that and clearly took a lot of sweat and stress, but he did it and so many have benefited especially in terms of the jobs he created and the monument he made to bakeries. Bravissimo!!!

He said the magic word...PLAY! You got to play and experiment exactly like practice makes perfect. Everyone's imagination is different but unique. This is exactly how I learned to cake and decorate. The possibilities are endless 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I got the Russian tips when they first came out and I've hated them ever since. Everyone thinks they're a decorator if they can use them... The handcrafted flowers are the real skill.
The Russian tips have their place, and aren't that easy to use. Not everyone needs to be able to make flowers without them, they are really good for home bakers, and apparently even professionals can create nice things with them.

I love watching you work. Your freestyle way of decorating the cake really made me want to try it. You also gave me a sense that decorating cakes need a skill set even if you don't always use it. I think the Russian tips can make you a lazy decorator and I love to put time and energy into my cakes.

Oh wow....I love yellow color and I also love the dark blue?? color as well. I love butter cream cakes, I think is so amazing to work with it, and so delicious taste.....only thing is that people will have to be very careful, not leave out too long on a hot temperature.
after adding the dark green leaves in the end, the cake really pops up amazingly
