It's not just international students who have to do part tie jobs : Kids in western countries usually start getting a part time job early in life. Paper routes, store staff, McDonalds or Subway or Ice Cream stores etc. They do this even before they turn 13, so they learn the importance of making money and maintaining a job. They continue to do this into high school and college/uni. Nothing so special about "International students" doing them for 1 to 2 years. If you can't do it, might as well stay back in India!
