You don't jam to it or dance.. you feel it. His lyricism and poetry was on another level, especially in the 1960s/70s. Just have to listen to It's Alright Ma, Visions of Johanna, Love Minus Zero etc to realize! Only musician in history to win a Nobel Prize in literature for his songwriting.
you don’t have to dance to every song in the world. some songs you just sit and listen and feel it
Strong point nicely expressed 👍
Dylan can be an acquired taste but when you get him it will be a revelation for you. Start by listening to "Don't Think Twice, It's Alright, "Hurricane", "The Man in Me" and just the whole New Morning album is a great introduction into Bob Dylan. Its's not quite as raw as his earlier records but still has his signature style and distinct personality all over and a great tracklist. It's one of his more underrated records in my opinion and one i always recommend to new listeners.
When it comes to Dylan mate; I’m often drunk, stoned. However, I first heard Dylan in my early 20’s. I was completely sober. My English teacher recommended in class to read some Bob Dylan lyrics; that it was like poetry. He quipped; “you can’t understand what he’s saying, when he’s singing; however, his lyrics are great”. I went to the library where I found a book called The Complete Bob Dylan Lyrics and the library had a healthy Bob Dylan on vinyl. I went to a listening station; with a turntable and headphones. I listened to each album available and read the lyrics simultaneously. I’ve been a Dylan fan ever since. 🕺😎
I love this … 🙏
The song in the trailer A Hard Rains Gonna Fall- full song is pretty epic
“Like a complete unknown, like a rolling stone” lyric from the only song (Like a Rolling Stone) I actually listen to from Bob Dylan.
I'm not a huge Dylan fan but can respect his talent. Timmy is a great actor and this was directed by James Mangold so it will probably be amazing.
One of his best known songs, The Times They Are A-Changin', timeless lyrics.
That is a beautiful song, really evokes the period it was released in.
Girl from North Country Fair makes me well up every time! I love early bob dylan, i used to listen to it in bed on headphones when i was growing up. Altho timmy is in everything these days- he does looks good here as BD.
He isn’t it’s just everything he is in gets buzzed Austin Butler is in a lot Jacob Elordi Barry Keogh
Josh O’Connor Paul Mescal watch they r in everything they r the new actors rising along with Timmy
The only one I don’t agree with is Jacob Elordi he has yet to prove himself imo
Bruh, you should check out the Martin Scorsese documentary: “No Direction Home”. It is a fantastic introduction to Dylan.
No Direction Home is a fantastic film. I’ve watched it many times 🕺😎
@@jonathanaldecoa1099 … lol, I watched it yesterday. It is seriously one of Scorsese’s best films…. in his top 10 anyway.
I'm 28. I've been a Dylan fan since I was about 14 or 15. He is definitely an acquired taste. If you're not down for the voice, I encourage you to simply read the lyrics on their own. You'll be transported.
Amazing ! Dylan was a poet during the Folk times he then went electric this is a time in Dylan’s life
Hurricane/ Lay Lady Lady/ blowing in the wind/ knocking on Haven’s Door/ Like a Rolling Stone/ don’t think twice
An excellent movie by Mangold is Copland
Bob Dylan is also a great songwriter. He's written a lot of songs for other artists like "Forever Young," "Wagon Wheel," "Make You Feel My Love," etc. To me his music is synonymous with the American 60's and 70's. I honestly didn't even realize he was still alive. For some reason, I thought he died years ago. I never see him on the news, or singing live, etc. He's a complete enigma. I am usually not that interested in seeing these music bio films, (except for Elvis, which was great), because they always seem too clean and polished, but I would be interested in watching this, only because I know absolutely nothing about his life, so I won't go into the film overly judgmental. I think it will have a nice period piece vibe to it, if not be a little on the boring side.
You didn't think ELVIS was clean and polished?
@@nancykerriganYeah, it was VERY clean and polished, but I still enjoyed it. If it hadn't been directed by Baz Lurhman and been so stylized I probably wouldn’t have, but it was clear he was trying to do something different than a typical bio film.
Watch scorcese’s “No Direction Home”
As if Oppenheimer movie wasn't enough? There's going to be a movie about Bob Dylan as well.
J. Robert Oppenheimer blasted Japan
Bob Dylan blasted people's ears
I love Bob Dylan music like a rolling stone blowing in the wind
Try these songs..
I Shall Be Released
Girl from North Country (w Johnny Cash)
Like A Rolling Stone
Murder Most Foul
Love bob❤
I get it. I find that I love Bob Dylan's songs when someone else sings them. He's a great songwriter. I just never quite feel it when he is singing his own songs. I am looking forward to this movie though, I do love Timothee Chalamet. He's stupid talented.
Check out the song Shelter From The Storm, if you like it, the whole album called "Blood On The Tracks" is a masterpiece.
This will be great ❤
“Highlands”
Much education needed.
Not really a hippie...more of a beatnik...at least for a while..
Dylan has transformed constantly throughout his career...
Songs to study:
It's alright ma, im only bleeding
Tangled up in Blue
Hurricane
Lay lady lay
listen to moonshiner man, now that ive fallen into your interaction trap
Winning - will do
Chalamet getting BOOKED!
First of all, ignore all the comments on here recommending his early 60s songs. Dylan's young folky stage (hippie stage, if you want to call it that) only lasted a few years. That part of the story is told over and over, and if you don't resonate with folksy Dylan, skip it. But there is way, WAY more to Dylan. If you are open to getting a glimpse of what makes him singular, I have a challenge for you: Listen to the first 20 seconds of each of the following songs and choose one that you don't absolutely hate. Then, take the time to listen with your full attention. Keep an open mind and forget the need to evaluate.
Here's your short list: You're A Big Girl Now, Ballad of a Thin Man, Blind Willie McTell, I and I, Pretty Saro, Things Have Changed, Meet Me in The Morning, One More Cup of Coffee, New Pony.
Not about peace and love
Romance in Durango, Hurricane, Emotionally Yours and One More Cup of Coffee
Bob Dylan is an acquired taste. It has taken me a long time to appreciate the music. Try like a Rolling Stone, which is where the title of this movie comes from.
Tangled up in Blue is another good one.
love bob dylan !!
I feel so so sorry for you that you can't feel or don't get it because is awesome. :/ Bob Dylan - Pretty Saro
Bob Dylan a hippy, I must admit that was hilarious.
Hello mark sunshine 🌞 hope you had a good Wednesday sweetie 🌻👍🌻☕️
I guess it’s just generational thing but I don’t think I ever listened to bob Dylan….
Hi mark 😅😅haha just having a giggle to myself sweetie ☕️🌻🫂
Dylan is revered due to his lyric's, not so much for his singing voice. I don't like his voice either. When I do enjoy his songs it's usually when they are being sung by a different singer.
Give a listen to Tomorrow is a kong time" and lets see if that doesnt move u!
Stopped listening to this after you said you feel nothing listening to Bob Dylan songs. Not the opinion on the trailer i care about
