FN 509 holsters can be found at Muddy River Tactical.
This FN 509 is in flat dark earth and just looks like its built for battle. It has a 4” barrel and is a striker fired pistol. The grip length is perfect for me and allows me to have a full purchase on pistol with no issues. This particular model comes with 2 - 17 round magazines, or 2 - 10 round magazines if you live in a crappy state that you should move out of!
This FN 509 weighs in at roughly 27 ounces and comes with a price tag around the $600 mark for this standard version.
There are tons of models of this firearm on the market from the tactical, to midsize, to compact, to LS, to compensator models. There is so many options that you will be able to find a FN 509 model configuration you are looking for without a doubt!
This standard version is not optic cut, however like we just discussed they do offer option cut options as well.
The sights are steel 3 dot white sights. The sights work incredible well and I see no reason why you would ever want to change them.
The ergonomics on the FN 509 not only feel great but look great as well! FN has put texturing on the grip that is different in each area. This allows you to have more grip in some places and a less aggressive texture in other. Overall I really like it and it feels nice against your hand while still giving more than adequate grip. The FN 509s come with an interchangeable backstrap which you can change if you so choose to fit your hand better.
The slide serrations on this 509 work very well and make it easy to manipulate this pistol. All controls on this pistol are ambidextrous which is great and makes it so anyone can shoot this pistol and shoot it well! The controls are also very easy to use and smooth.
There is a full front picattini rail so you can use a wide variety of lights or lasers if you so choose.
The trigger on this FN 509 is actually pretty nice. When I first got it out of the box, I wasn’t so sure about it. It had a little bit of a crunchy feel and I wasn’t really digging it to be honest. However after keeping an open mind and shooting 350 rounds through this firearm at the range my thoughts have drastically changed. That crunchy type feel is gone and the trigger really performed well! You have very little take-up, a really good wall, and then a clean and crisp break. The reset is also very quick and right back to the solid wall. If anything the trigger pull is barely heavy at 5.5 pounds, however during shooting at the range, it felt very good.
Accuracy and reliability was exactly what I would expect out of an FN product. FN makes products for military applications so they are reputable for sure.
We have put roughly 350 rounds through this pistol and it ate any ammo we threw at it. We did not have any failures of any kinds. We have shot factory reman, Winchester, fiochi, federal, defender, and just random ammo we had through it and never missed a beat.
Size wise this 509 is super comparable to the a Sig P320, or Glock 19. All 3 are great pistols however, I personally think the FN feels and shoots a little better than either of them though.
Overall, this FN 509 has not disappointed and I can see why it has such a loyal following. It feels and shoots just as good as I figured it would. It is definitely not one of those guns that leaves you disappointed after a trip to the range.
If you are in the market for a concealed carry pistol and on a budget, I would definitely go get your hands on one of these and see what you think.
Thank you all for joining us today, we truly appreciate you all!
Until Next Time, Keep Practicing and Always be Prepared!
I bought on 2 weeks ago and love it. As a lefty, you know I love a pistol with ambidextrous controls. Very accurate, smooth recoil, and lite. Great for conceal carrying.
Would like to see a comparison between glock 19x, sig M18 and this FN 509. Compact size slide and full size grip battle. All raging from edc, hone defense and duty analysis.
I really like the FDE standard model
Great review man, as a lefty I plan to get one 👍🏼
Thank you sir!
I dig the true ambi mag release. Why can't others do that
I agree. Thanks for watching
You guys were one of the first to make holsters for the original 509 and 6 years later you're just now doing a video about it? Lol better late than never I guess. Gr8 vid as usual guys. 🔫 🇺🇸
Still as relevant today as 6 years ago! We just started getting into reviews a few months ago so we will do a lot of pistols that aren’t brand new per say. Thank you for your support!

I still have your M&P shield holster and still works great!. I was curious that are you planning to expand your OWB model like adding lvl 2 retention/thumb break in the future?
Thank you sir! At this time it is not in the plans.
When talking about the grip, I wondered what size hands you have. I have small hands. They weren't made for a Glock full sized, but I wondered what your thoughts might be for the 509 & smaller hands?
I feel like the FN grip is more contoured so it fits hands better especially if on smaller side hands
@@muddyrivertactical Thanks!
